Meet Melissa Lewkowicz of The Law Offices of Chester & Lewkowicz in West Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Lewkowicz.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, my parents hosted weekly dinner parties.  They always filled our table with the most colorful characters imaginable, but it was one regular guest who inspired me on my path.

My mother’s high school boyfriend was a criminal defense attorney and would regale us with stories about defending the falsely accused.  Listening to his stories of battle against the State, I was sure he was a superhero in disguise and I knew what I wanted to be… a superhero just like Ira Chester!

Today, Ira Chester is my law partner at The Law Offices of Chester & Lewkowicz and even though I’m older now, I still believe he has a cape stashed away somewhere… and I still want one just like it.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the trenches of criminal defense, the only currency that actually matters is freedom. As a criminal defense attorney, my job often requires me to wage war for it. My road is never “smooth,” but it is always rewarding.

Please tell us about The Law Offices of Chester & Lewkowicz.
Ira Chester and I appreciate that when a person’s freedom is on the line there is no substitute for experience, which is why we have dedicated our practice exclusively to criminal defense and handle each and every one of our cases personally.

With over 40 years of combined experience, Ira and I have successfully handled thousands of criminal cases including DUI’s, White Collar Crimes, Drug Crimes, Violent Crimes, Domestic Violence Cases, Juvenile Crimes, Three Strikes Cases, Theft Cases, Property Offenses, Internet Crimes, DMV Suspensions, Hit & Runs, Warrants, Probation Violations, and Expungements.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was helping my mother open her first store. She had finally made her dreams come true and I was there to witness it! Watching my struggling single mother rise like a Phoenix from the ashes of her divorce, I learned that with passion, conviction, and dedication, anything is possible!
