Today we’d like to introduce you to Birdy Rowe.
Birdy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in a small beach town (San Clemente) surfing and music were a big part of my life. I taught myself the guitar at 12 and as I grew older it became a way for me to make sense of things and express myself. Along the way, I picked up other instruments here and there and met musicians along the way. My goal has always been to surround myself with the people that inspire me to write. My band Alouette just released our first album at a venue called treehouse. We have plans to record our next album up at tiny telephone in January and release it in the spring of next year.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I never took music that seriously- it had always been an escape to make sense of everything else I was struggling through. I’m a very outgoing person but also extremely introverted. It took me years to try outperforming and once I did I realized.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
It’s hard to pick out any one memory but I always loved the summer for the concerts and it brought people to our town.
