Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Mcgee.
Jermaine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started working towards my goals at a young age. As a kid, I started drawing on walls and I wondered why I was so fascinated. My grandmother got me art supplies one day, since then, I’ve continued to pursue my dreams as a professional artist. I went to college to further enhance my skills as a digital designer. I studied 2D and 3D art, ceramics, game design, and illustration. After I graduated, I searched for a job within my field but was unsuccessful. After a year of searching for the right fit, I decided to start my own business and to share my artistic experience with the world. Since then, I’ve held countless art shows, paint parties and private art lessons for all those willing to learn and enjoy what art has to offer. I’m at the point where I want to take my journey to the next level so more people can experience the joy and creativity that art can bring.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My business was first started in 2017, and I was on my own most of the way. I experience the financial hassles of starting my own business with little outside income coming in to fund my business. It was hard to find others who believed in a career in art, so at times, there was limited support. The road has gotten smoother because of the help of other entrepreneurs, friends, family, and supporters who believe in my dreams.
Simply Creative Arts – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business specializes in contemporary art and how to share creativity with others. We are known for our events including paint parties, art shows and commissioned artwork. I am most proud of my brand and what it entails. Our motto is “Inspiring Passion from Within”. This simply means we at Simply Creative Arts believe that everyone is born with a distinct passion for creativity, and we love to help others find this creativity to use in some form or shape. What sets me apart from others is my passion to help others and not to just benefit financially. The art we produce is also diverse, we don’t just concentrate on portraits and landscapes, we thrive on diversity and catering to our customer’s needs.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment in my career as an entrepreneur is when I put on my first art show. My first art show did only feature my artwork, but I was the start of a new aspect to my business that would lead to lots of new opportunities. There was an undying amount of support for my business and it gave me the fuel to keep on thriving to do what I loved to do. Now, I have curated 6 art shows, over 15 paint parties, and over 50 commissioned pieces since 2017.
