Today we’d like to introduce you to Garry Matthews. Garry is a sports enthusiast and found his calling in the fitness arena. He is an inventor and an entrepreneur. He has already opened up his own gym, introduced his fitness product line and plans to open up more gyms soon enough. Below you’ll find edited excerpts of our interview with this fitness prodigy.
Garry, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I learned by doing, I played lots of sports and made it a big part of my life. Going into training was a great way to stay connected. A fitness career was I perfect fit for me. I’ve spent 15 years as a trainer and the inventor of the GTRAIN Fitness System.
What are your plans for the future?
In the near future I plan on growing the GTrain Fitness brand by promoting the GTrain Fitness Vest and Bands to changes the fitness world. Also now that I have the first GTrain Fitness Center opened at 5101 Lankershim Blvd in North Hollywood CA I am planning on adding new locations ASAP.
Let’s dig a little deeper into your story. What was the hardest time you’ve had?
The hardest time in my career was 2010, I finally took the leap to open GTrain Fitness and I put every dime I had into it. Things started very slow and i was in way over my head. I was spending more than I was making and for the first time in my life I started doubt whether or not I made the right decision. I was thought by my Dad that if you give it your all you will never be disappointed with the results.
So I keep pushing with the belief that all my hard work would pay off. Things started to improve when I invented the GTrain Fitness System. I taught myself how to sew and begin making my vest, cuffs and bands by hand. This allowed me to expand my training and increase my revenue by starting Cardio Bandz and FitCamp Classes. I also began selling my product and things began to take off from there.
