Meet Quinece Hills of Jaded Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinece Hills.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Jaded Cosmetics May of 2017. My current boyfriend had recently passed away. March of 2017. Due to a fatal accident that had left him in a coma for almost two months. He was always so positive and was really the only person I told in-depth about my dream to start a cosmetics line. After watching him slip away day by day, I realized life is short. May of 2017, I got my LLC and started Jaded Cosmetics. I started off with eyelashes and used his sayings, such as “Do you nothing less” along with other infamous what we call Rom G sayings. I then added lipsticks and lipglosses to my line followed by neon pigmented eyeshadows.

I begin doing pop up events, marketing, networking and expanding my brand. I sale at Planes Trains & things in Baldwin Hills and at the Keep it Vertical Closet in Los Angeles. Fast forward to today and Jaded is slowly but surely becoming a household brand. The support and love has been amazing. What’s for you will always be. You just gotta go after it despite the circumstances. I’ve come to realize after the storm there’s a rainbow! I haven’t found my pot of gold lol! But I’ve found my rainbow. My purpose, my passion.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
What’s that saying “nothing worth having comes easy and if it does it’s not worth having “ I’ve had my obstacles. I’m a single mom so that’s one challenge I face but on the flip side a blessing because I’m teaching my son entrepreneurship. He gets to see “mom” be hand on. He knows his mom is a hustler! In business, I think it’s a constant learning experience. I’ve messed up had my moments. Had to ask questions, do my research. I don’t think it’ll ever be smooth. The voyage may sail smoother lol but I’m always on my toes. There’s time of frustrations, sure. But my will to succeed outweighs that. There’s fear then there’s my faith that basically eats that B*tch fear alive!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jaded Cosmetics story. Tell us more about the business.
Jaded is a company that promotes self-love, self-acceptance, and boss vibes! I wanted people to know it’s ok to be “Jaded” to some things. It’s ok to be outspoken, it’s ok to be different. It’s ok to “Do you nothing less” Jaded Cosmetics specializes in beauty and self-care. Mostly known for lipglosses, My top sellers “Rose Gold & Tan Lines” I’m proud of my company. I think I’m still amazed that it came to pass. I’m proud of the bonds I’ve created along the ride. I think I’m just overall proud I turned a dream to reality. From a vision board to actually being able to see, hear and feel it! That’s magic baby!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck, I call it faith. I can’t say I’ve had much luck my whole life. But my god, I’ve had a lot of faith. A lot of belief in self. Self-doubt will kill more dreams than anything. My faith keeps me going. I feel that what’s for you will always be. No luck can mess with that! I had what I call the role of faith. I just programmed myself to believe that this will work out. I’ll succeed. I have to! My faith won’t convince me otherwise!
