Meet Chelsea Williams of That’s Chelsea in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Williams.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chelsea. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I became interested in wellness late 2009. I was working as a reimbursement case manager at a contract research organization that supported a large pharmaceutical company. Insured and uninsured patients with Crohn’s disease or multiple sclerosis would call to request financial assistance for their medication.

As part of my role, I would approve or deny requests for financial assistance based on their income and/or insurance provider. Day after day, patients would call in, clearly in pain, to request help. Some even threatened to take their own lives if my employer could not provide them with the assistance they needed. I felt a sense of extreme guilt and left the company.

Simultaneously, I was going through my own personal healing process after living with thyroid for many years. I started to find success by simply transitioning to a pescatarian diet. I thought to myself, there must be a way to help prevent the onset of these diseases. I then decided to pursue a Master of Public Health in Nutrition. I eventually removed meat and dairy from my diet in 2012.

In 2015, I started my platform in an effort to help teach others how they can become more knowledgeable, health-conscious consumers. My content ranges from quick health tips to eco and green beauty reviews, to plant-based recipes.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My main struggle was balancing my role in corporate America with entrepreneurial pursuits.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about That’s Chelsea – what should we know?
I am a nationally recognized health communication strategist and wellness media correspondent that is highly skilled at developing compelling digital communications that drive positive behavior change.

I specialize in plant-based wellness, non-toxic living, and digital communications/marketing.

Additionally, I serve as 1 of 6 Board of Advisors for The Well, a social brand by Samsung Mobile USA and POPSUGAR Fitness that focuses on wellness content and experiential events throughout 2019 and beyond.

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Radford University and a Master of Public Health in nutrition from Liberty University. I’m also a Certified Communicator in Public Health through the National Public Health Information Coalition.

What sets my business apart is that I have been identified as a diverse, authoritative, and relatable source in the holistic wellness space.

I am proud to say that I have been true to my brand and continue to decline lucrative opportunities that don’t align with my core values.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Integrity, transparency, and responsiveness.
