Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Butler.
Ryan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being raised in South Sacramento, California, at a young age I was known as a well-rounded peoples-person and a creative individual. From graphic design to music and entertainment I always had some sort of vision of what I wanted to do longevity-wise. Fast forward to 2012/13, I moved to L.A. and took two internships at major record labels, one being Warner Bros Records where I had opportunities to develop relationships, showcase my talent and worked with now major pop sensation Dua Lipa and was eventually approached to create graphics for Selena Gomez and her 2016/17 Revival Tour.
Later in the years, I built a relationship with a very successful woman named Sherrie (Sherrieblossom.com) ––the woman that created the famous clear makeup organizers you see with all the celebrities. You should check it out. It’s a really popular product, who is mentor––which is important to have in any industry––to me and taught me the fundamentals on how business works, how to pitch, and maneuver throughout various industries. I applied all of which I learned––still learning––to my business model and everyday life which lead me to create my first startup business, Espada Creative Agency.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road for me has definitely been bumpy and non-linear, for instance, before I started working with notable music artists and talent I would personally reach out to their team to work or collaborate and get denied very often. Even with first getting situated in Los Angeles there were challenges: acquiring business partners, funding, obtaining new opportunities, etc. I never let that truly get the best of me, always kept my head high and proceeded onto the next thing.
With whatever you do in life, whether it’s sports, entertainment, job seeking, etc. there will always be obstacles that will temporarily halt where you want to go, but it’s solely up to you and how your mindset is if you want to overcome those challenges/obstacles. And when you do overcome those obstacles it’ll feel that much better and the success is that much sweeter in the long run. There is truly no straightforward-golden road to success, it will be bumpy at times and you’ll have forks in the road, but it’s up to you to overcome and prosper.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Espada Creative Agency story. Tell us more about the business.
My company Espada Creative Agency, is a full-service startup boutique creative agency responsible for the representation and development of creatives into elite multinational talent. We have a talent roster of creatives in the art, entertainment, and music industries in which they can provide services to whomever inquires (e.g. graphic design, modeling for runway & brands, singer-songwriters, photographers, hair and MUA).
We are most known for our prestigious execution of projects, and our amazing talent signed to the agency are hand scouted from me and my team––most who are close friends of mine that are versatile and masters in the industry they’re in. I’m most proud of my company is how our talents have grown in the past year since we began services, everyone is extremely talented, open to learning, humble, and willing to explore and develop their skills in multinational regions (i.e Mexico; London; France; etc) having a humble, artistically talented, and driven talent roster is what truly separates my company from the rest of the creative agencies. You will never find any other ambidextrous individuals like the ones on Espada Creative Agency.
