Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Jefferson.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started Teacher Mom Chronicles blog and Instagram account in order to share my stories about balancing motherhood and a career. I found myself looking through Instagram and other social media outlets for people that I could relate to, and I felt like they’re weren’t many.
All of the accounts and posts I saw were very idealistic and very teacher-specific OR mom-specific, not what it’s like trying to do BOTH. Even fewer if I tried to find women of color doing both of those things. I knew there were people out there who felt like I did, who are a part of both the teacher world and mom world, who often felt overwhelmed, guilty, or in a continuous state of exhaustion, who needed to see themselves represented in the social media community. I want women of all types to know they aren’t alone. Which brings me to today. While being able to relate to, encourage, and support moms everywhere, my blog is also helping me to build an audience for my book, and social media has helped connect me with so many great women that I am constantly learning from and inspired by. In the near future, I am hoping to expand my reach and begin a book club for kids and begin hosting events for parents and their children that align with my mission.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t think any new venture in life is ever a smooth road. Right now, my biggest struggle has been time, energy, and consistently staying motivated. I am a Teacher Mom, after all. So working, parenting, and wife-ing all at the same time, doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Its often overwhelming, and there have been times when I felt like I had so much on my plate that I wasn’t doing any of those things well, let alone squeezing in writing a book and maintaining a blog. But it’s a process that I have accepted. Sometimes I’m killing goals left and right. Other times, I don’t produce anything for awhile. But I have to be willing to work a little harder and get a little less rest in order to build my vision.
Please tell us about Teacher Mom Chronicles.

Its a one stop shop for everything,”Millennial Teacher Mom.” But I also have a lot of new ventures in the works, so stay tuned to witness what Teacher Mom Chronicles has in store!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First and foremost, my husband. Without a doubt he has been the person who has given me the most love, support, guidance, and encouragement. We both have passions that we are looking to pursue and we support each other in them. We have goals that we want to achieve together and we’re constantly motivating each other. My immediate and extended family for their constant love, encouragement, and comfort they give us. My colleagues are inspiring and lovely to be around and work with. I truly value the bond we have together as a staff. My social media community, for sure. I have linked up with so many great women, moms, educators, and businesses through social media. I love the positivity and support we all have for each other. They help me stay motivated. Then finally, my kids. They’re my everything. The entire Teacher Mom universe revolves around them and the type of world I want them to inherit.
