Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Hogan.
Molly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I founded Trendy Chickadee while working in creative advertising as an outlet for my own creativity! I wanted to shine a light on small, sustainable brands and the stories behind them.
I’m in the process of launching Tate + Tiegs, an e-comm site dedicated to working with female artisans in developing countries, so stay tuned for that.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been a crazy road, but I have no complaints! I feel so insanely lucky to wake up everyday and be able to create my own schedule. While owning your own business has its challenges, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. There is such a sense of empowerment in being your own boss and being 100% in charge of your future.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Trendy Chickadee story. Tell us more about the business.
First and foremost, I’m known for BLUE! Whether it’s a blue dress or a blue ocean in the background of a photo, my Instagram and blog have a very clear beach, coastal aesthetic.
I’m most proud of the fact that my followers believe in the same things I do. They believe in knowing about a brand before they buy. They believe that saltwater can cure most anything. And they believe in me, which is the biggest honor ever.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I wake up every day feeling lucky! To be alive, to be healthy, to have a roof over my head and food in my refrigerator. I am beyond grateful for my beautiful, crazy, hectic life.
When it comes to my business, though, I believe that I’m in control of what happens. I advocate for myself, chase down invoices, hustle hard…all that good stuff!
