Meet Stephanie Garofano and Luiza Savchuk of The Dining Dolls in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Garofano and Luiza Savchuk.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Our love affair with food started when we were very young and we learned that we were supertasters (A supertaster is a person who experiences the sense of taste with far greater intensity than average) and began experimenting with cooking at a young age, often obsessing over cooking shows and insisting on cooking entire Thanksgiving dinners for the whole family as kids. But it wasn’t until we had our first tasting menu experience at Joël Robuchon that turned our culinary interest into a true passion – discovering that it was so much more than cooking food; It was art. It was perfection and dedication. It was talent and skill. It was euphoric and thrilling. It was ever-changing and new yet nostalgic all at the same time. We were infatuated and we knew we had to be involved in the industry one way or another. So when we weren’t dining out, we were cooking – attempting to recreate a dish we recently had at a Michelin Star restaurant. We sought out every chef’s cookbook that we ever tried and studied it religiously in an effort to one day master some of the skills that we so greatly admired. We began documenting our culinary journey over five years ago when we decided to share our experiences and passion through our page The Dining Dolls on social media.

As two sisters who share this great bond and love for food, we came up with the name – The Dining Dolls, focusing on authenticity and quality while always remaining true to ourselves. We offer more than photos of food. We are always researching new restaurants, up and coming chefs, new culinary trends and constantly keeping up to date with the multifaceted culinary industry. We strive to provide our viewers with the best photo and video content of our greatest experiences, as well as useful information including insights on the latest events and restaurant opening, and most importantly showcasing the endless talent that Los Angeles (and beyond) has to offer.

Has it been a smooth road?
To be honest, it’s hard not to enjoy every single second of what we do. This is our passion and we are so lucky and grateful to be a part of this special industry and to share our culinary experiences with the world. Not every single dining experience is perfect and not every recipe is a winner (although most are 😉 we continue to learn, and grow with each and every experience we have.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The Dining Dolls story. Tell us more about the business.
We are two sisters living in Los Angeles who have created a brand called “The Dining Dolls” sharing with the world our experiences and passion for all things culinary through our social media channels. We specialize in featuring high-quality dining experiences at acclaimed restaurants, local and national culinary events and also our own cooking experiences and recipes. We pride ourselves on showcasing only the best culinary talents this city has to offer. From highly regarded restaurants to hole-in-the-wall hidden gems, it is our mission to showcase and present our viewers with the best dining experiences and recommendations. We thoroughly do our research and seek out different types of cuisines and restaurants for all occasions at their height so that when our followers take the time and resources to dine at a restaurant we recommended – they are guaranteed to love it.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The culinary industry is always changing. It requires constant dedication and research to be able to keep up with its ever-changing nature. We’ve seen many trends come and go but what always remains is quality. We are happy to see the industry shift to more fine-dining once again. With a plethora of enormous talent and with the help of the Michelin Guide coming back to Los Angeles, naturally the coveted Star created more healthy competition, as well as added pressure. Chefs are setting the bar higher than ever before, taking cuisine to new levels and heights, making it very exciting to witness!
