Meet Jordan Cann and Aaron Patrick of J&S Film Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Cann and Aaron Patrick.

Aaron and Jordan started their journey as background dancers in the summer of 2012 for an upcoming artist and have been inseparable business partners and friends. Whether it was dancing in music videos, commercials, choreographing for music artists, where you saw one, you saw the other.

Jordan was raised in Hampton, VA and in 2009 he moved to Los Angeles, CA to elevate his dance career. He had success dancing for artists such as Ne-Yo, Celine Dion, Flo- Rida, Will.I.Am, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande to name a few. He also had commercial and TV spots ranging from Nickelodeon, Heineken, Verizon, Tosh.0, Pepsi, Little Caesars, and Show Carnival. When Jordan wasn’t dancing he was excelling as a highly trained martial artist. That skill landed him multiple movie roles. One alongside Vivica A. Fox, Tom Sizemore and a role in the widely successful film, Straight Outta Compton which grossed over $200 million. Jordan later decided to enroll in the Los Angeles film where he earned a degree in Film Science.

Aaron was raised in San Bernardino, CA where he gravitated towards breakdancing. Ironically he was trained by his high school, math teacher after class. He later relocated to Los Angeles where he also had success dancing in the film and TV industry and for artist such as Jennifer Lopez, Keyshia Cole, Labrinth, Usher and the popular tv show, Hell’s Kitchen.

After years of dancing and learning the film business, Jordan and Aaron decided to dabble in production. Their initial intent was to shoot small dance concept videos, but they discovered new talents along the way. Jordan in writing, editing and directing. Aaron, in producing and writing. It quickly went from small dance concept videos to full-on productions with complex storylines.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As we moved forward to bigger films the biggest struggle has been finding additional capital to complete and properly market our films. The most current struggle is marketing and publicity towards our brand and what we do. When first started out is was learning the dynamics of film from lighting sound and beautiful cinematography.

Then it moved on to the legalities of film. Getting clearances and licenses for music. As we progressed from that it became about getting “named” talent to make our investors happy and get people to want to see the movie. After the film is complete you are then led to finding a distributor and getting more capital for marketing. It’s an ongoing journey of learning and overcoming problems professionally and personally

J&S Film Productions LLC – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a film production company that specializes in music videos, dance concept videos, short films and feature-length films. We usually dabble in the genres of action, drama, romance, comedy and horror. Our most successful project is our feature film, “Street Dreams – Los Angeles,” which is streaming on many major platforms today.

We are proud of the amount of quality films we have and continue to produce over the last five years and what sets us apart is that we are dancers who turned into filmmakers still using our onscreen talent within our films. We direct, write and edit our own and very diverse content. Not to mention we are one of the few African – American production companies doing this consistently on an indie level

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for us right now would be able to produce consistent high-quality films full-time with a major budget and without the distraction of a 9-5 job tugging at us to make money. Gain a more recognizable name so our films can easily make it to bigger and mainstream platforms such as Netflix and Theaters all over the country. In love with a beautiful woman with a healthy and happy family. Finally able to travel more to promote our work and brand.
