Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariann Marinberg.
Mariann, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Sometimes, the road you start on is not the road you end up on. Being an immigrant child in the United States, my family came from Russia in 1979. My education focus was in Biology and Medicine. I graduated from USC and went on to Medical School only after attempting to pass the boards three times, came close but couldn’t quite get there. That was the first time I realized that I could either adjust and move forward or wallow in my failure… I adjusted. I went on to opening my own restaurant, then another and then another. I had the opportunity to sell the restaurants and the catering company and to join a national group that specialized in luxury sports resorts. After spending nearly 10 years with them and managing four of their clubs operating systems, I was asked to move to South Florida and to help grow one of their top clubs. After my position was eliminated in a tough economy, I joined the 2nd largest Media Company in South Florida as their Director of Marketing, Events, and PR.
As all amazing things happen by accident, during the course of an event for the media company, we were interviewing my current CEO… who said: “should you ever think of leaving, let me be your first phone call”… sometime later, he was my first call. As a woman in a predominantly male-driven automotive industry, the bar is even higher at Prestige with supercars and hypercars, most valued over $1million dollars.
Has it been a smooth road?
There is no such thing as a smooth road… there is always something in the way, there is always someone who is working as hard, but with different ethics and morals, different character and sometimes, we get in the way and we get pulled down. My advice is to know that if you adjust if you move with the waves, you will always be alright. I always suggest having a core collection of strong people around you, who will keep you on track and keep you positive and balanced.
We’d love to hear more about Prestige Imports | Lamborghini Miami | Pagani Miami.
I’m proudest of my character and that I’m known for being an honest and reliable person. My brand is myself, which means… I have to make sure that I have value as an employee, as a woman, as a mother and as a wife all the time. I’m known for out of the box creative thinking that bends rules but never breaks character.
Prestige Imports defines out of the box experiences for our customers. We strive to make sure that our clients feel like our family with private experiences, intimate dinners and wow moments. When you represent the world’s top automotive brands, you need a CEO who himself represents that vision…I’m lucky to work for a man who both values my contribution as an associate and elevates my position as a woman. Brett David lives in the future and I like supporting his ideas.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Call me… I’ll walk you through the hard days…
Build your own brand, one that has deep meaning to yourself.
Be honest, capable, hardworking, fast, dependable… all those adjectives that you would look for in a mentor or a leader… be her, ALWAYS and never lower your standards… those that matter will see your value, and those that don’t matter, won’t appreciate you anyways.
