Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Daigle.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story?
When I was 12 years old I knew I wanted to be a photographer. I am so grateful that my parents saw my dream and were very supportive. At the age of 13, my parents purchased a 35mm and enrolled me in my very first black and white photography class at a local college. Two years later, I was interning for a Wedding Videography Company where I learned how to film and edit weddings. By the age of 17 I had made a few solid connections in the Wedding Photography industry and started working for a popular wedding photographer out of his orange county studio. It truly was such an exciting experience for me to be mentored by a successful photographer, but being young and naive during that time, I found myself crushed after having been taken advantage of. This life changing experience put me in a position of having to choose to be a victim or a victor. I came out of that experience, choosing to move forward, I was 18 years old and I started my business and have been working for myself ever since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being self-employed comes with challenges, heck, being an entrepreneur comes with challenges! The road has definitely not been smooth, my business was formed out of one of the most difficult experiences of my young adult life, but the struggles are what shaped me and choosing to rise above my circumstance gave me the grit to keep moving forward when other obstacles came my way. There have been many times where my calendar was not as full as I would like, bookings were low and bills were due. There have been challenges of wanting to please my clients, but not sacrifice my artistic style. There were also the personal challenges of comparison and doubt and seeing other photographers in the industry receiving awards and accolades and I began to ask myself if I was good at what I did. I used to struggle with this mentality of wanting to be “THE BEST” in the industry, I quickly realized that I should compete with nobody but myself, so instead of striving to be the best in the industry, I strive to do MY best and that is what matters the most to me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Jennifer Daigle Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
My company is based around Weddings, Family Portraits, and Headshots specializing in the use of natural light. I am humbled to say that I am known for my customer service and desire to go above and beyond for my clients. I simply want to make my clients happy and I believe that mentality sets me apart from others and I’m proud to say that 95% of my clients are all referral based. Amazing people continue to refer me to other amazing people, I’m definitely blessed!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I truly believe that luck is simply where hard work and opportunity meet. I have worked hard to get to where I am today and it didn’t happen by accident.
