Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Snow.
Mike, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Really quick a little about me, Graduated from Howard University – Bachelors Finance and worked in investment banking in New York. I made the decision to take an opportunity out here in the Wild Wild West – aka Los Angeles. Where I managed budget for some projects and talent for some of the biggest names in music and entertainment in general. Long story short, it led me into the beauty and personal care products space. Ive been fortunate enough to travel brands around the world, gain different perspectives, and strengthened my consciousness of how we all live.
Like many many people, I was experiencing thinning and losing my hair. People young to old experience this which includes hereditary, bad hair treatments, and other factors. Simply put, I was just not ready to go completely bald. Some hair restorations procedures/units are super expensive and sometimes leave a nasty scar. Existing products on the market were just wasn’t cutting it anymore since they are essentially a powder and my balding area was becoming drastic. If you put powder on a very thinning area, it’s going to look just like that: powder on a balding area and not hair and have texture. I also wanted the design to be clean and affordable. Being able to boost your confidence shouldn’t be at expensive luxury.
Since I know how to construct product, I said to myself; let me figure this out, and I was able to research and bring materials that I personally loved from all over the world to give you my best offering. Being a consumer, I put a lot of thought into every detail and what I liked and found helpful for my usage.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
During the development process, I was fortunate enough for it to be a smooth road. Sometimes when you deal with international manufacturers it can be challenging: between the time zone differences, minimum quantities in the 10,000s for production, lead time for finished goods, flat out not getting what you paid for, and the list goes on and on. I was able to have that at a minimal since I’ve been down this road before (I would like to thank experience for that) .
Thinking back, people would always ask me when I was coming out with my own products. My answer would always be when the time is right. Its easy to slap you label on a bottle and call it your own, but where’s the character and personality of the brand? My answer would always be if AND then, because Im not going to force something to happen that was not ordained. Its ALOT of work involved building your own brand as I have seen in development.
Ive found the reward being greater than the challenge, its not easy in the least bit. Any given day can be filled with wearing many different hats, and some you have to figure out. That’s also a part of the excitement and the adrenaline that keeps me going. No two days are ever alike and I want to keep it that way.
I hold tight to the belief Rome was not built in a day, however It was worked on everyday. Keep building and they will come lol
