Meet Tal Navarro of Social Lady Marketing Agency in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tal Navarro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a lifestyle blogger, Digital marketing lover and the owner of Social Lady agency.

I own two blogs where I write about both my personal experience in the digital world and about my professional expertise, thoughts and productions I take part of or organize. Every article I share, every tip I give, every experience I write about, comes from my heart and from a deep desire that inspires and drives me to continue to share my insights.

I am also working with the Beverly Hills X-mayor and co-founder of the BH incubator for entrepreneurs and startups, mentoring them all the way from building their business model canvas through their pitch to investors.

How did you start? Tell us about your journey and what steps have you been through to reach where you are today?
My life journey was full of adventures, achievements, losses, struggles and fulfilments.

It starts at 1999 when the Internet was still in its “diapers”, I was serving in the military as a computers and communication training officer and was part of the search and rescue unit of the Home Front Command. That is where I discovered my love for the online world.

In 2001, I spread my wings and took on the great wide world, relocating to New York City. Upon my arrival, I opened my first ever LLC company dealing with plumbing and constructions. During that time, I gained knowledge and experience working with clients, taking care of paperwork and improved my English. Obviously, plumbing wasn’t my thing and after almost two years I closed my company and moved to my next destination.

In 2003, I took the time off and traveled for half a year in the beautiful India, back packing from north to south.

In 2006, I moved to an island in the Caribbean name Anguilla, where I started my online business.

Wow, very interesting so far! So that’s where you became a businesswoman?
Well, you can say so, I guess..
My journey as an independent businesswoman was not an easy one and began with some obstacles. I came to a point where I would wake up in the morning, having to worry about keeping a constant flow of clients to make ends meet. There were times I thought about giving up. I saw everyone around me finish school and moving up in life with “grown-up” job.
But still, I never gave up.

I taught myself all there is to know about digital marketing and the online world and was able to offer digital promotion services for businesses through social media (Facebook or IG did not exist at the time!). I have been working in the field of digital marketing since the early days of the social networks and my knowledge grew as I kept going.

It’s amazing that Facebook and Instagram did not exist at that time!
Yeh, everything just started not long after.

In 2008, I moved to Florida.
In the summer of 2009 my life changed, and all my dreams were crushed.

My mother became ill with a rare form of cancer suddenly and after six months she passed away.
So I moved back to Israel to be with my family and had to close my business and start over using the knowledge and skills I have accumulated through my studies from managing my old business abroad.

During my time in Israel, I had some not easy moments, but I never gave up and never let myself sink into a state of depression. Instead, I kept working and working towards my goals, it’s what kept me going.

So starting from the bottom all over again, what did you do?
In 2010, I joined Adler-Chomsky advertising agency where I established and ran the social media department. My work included building marketing strategies, content management and ongoing activities for brands and companies using social media tools.

But still, I wasn’t fulfilled.

In 2011, I spread my wings once more and moved away on my own to create my path. This is when I founded Sumo College – A Social Media Marketing College that trains and educates hundreds of businesses and organizations about social media.
