Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Peckler.
Molly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After earning a degree in Psychology and flourishing in the mainstream matchmaking industry, I felt like something was missing. I had great passion and talent for helping people find love, but I was dying to get involved in the legal cannabis industry. This was 2014 in Chicago, so at that time Illinois was nowhere near legalization. I found an opportunity at a cannabis consulting firm in Chicago, and the following year I went off on my own and founded Highly Devoted. I had always been inspired by my relationship with my husband and the fact that we fell in love over cannabis. Neither of us are prototypical stoners, but cannabis had always enhanced our lives and our romantic connection.
I started off providing date coaching and strategy services to cannabis consumers around the world and began to establish myself as the world’s preeminent cannabis-friendly dating expert. In 2016 my husband and I left the long winters behind and headed to LA. Once I arrived, I started hosting cannabis singles mixers and social events and started working with cannabis-friendly matchmaking clients in 2017.
Ever since I’ve helped clients around the country find love and thrown sophisticated events for the modern cannabis enthusiast. I have some crazy exciting projects and collaborations in the works including a brand new take on romantic consumption events, as well as Highly Devoted products and content aimed at people who are canna curious.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all. The life of a bootstrapping entrepreneur is incredibly stressful, and when your brand is connected to cannabis, paid advertising is almost completely impossible. I’ve had to become creative in my marketing efforts, especially when it comes to helping people understand why the world needs a cannabis-friendly love expert.
It definitely took some time to find my voice and mission as an entrepreneur, and that process will always continue. Running a business can look glamorous from the outside, but grinding and hustling seven days a week takes a lot out of you. It helps that I wake up each day with so much passion for what I do.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Highly Devoted – what should we know?
Highly Devoted is the world’s first cannabis-friendly matchmaking company. We work one on one with sophisticated cannabis consumers and help them find love with someone who accepts them, cannabis and all. We also throw upscale cannabis social events and mixers around Los Angeles and we create content for the modern cannabis consumer.
I’m proud of the fact that we’ve transformed the lives of so many of our clients by introducing them to loving partners. I’m also proud of the attention we’ve gotten from mainstream media outlets such as The New York Times, Forbes, Entrepreneur, Playboy, and VICE. We’ve created the unique niche of using cannabis to enhance romantic relationships, and we’re proud to share that message with the world.
