Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Freeze.
Nick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started back in high school, everybody in the crew all had a strong passion for music so we started writing together and eventually recording. We ended up going to different colleges but we kept communication and maintained the vision. Once I graduated and moved back, we reunited and started laying the groundwork. Around spring 2017, we felt we had the quality and music and resources to start a serious push and campaign. After dropping two EP’s later that year, I started performing twice a month to get comfortable on stage and improve my showmanship. 2018 started with a handful of visuals that led up to my first LP, Infinity, and we’ve been grinding since.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road to success. You’re definitely going to face obstacles and objections but it’s all about how you overcome them. My biggest challenge has just been finding ways to attract more eyes and ears. I think most independent artists face similar struggles without backing or resources but you should never let that stop you.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Laconia Entertainment Group story. Tell us more about the business.
Laconia Ent. is a group of talented, open-minded, and creative individuals who love art in every form. I’m one of many artists on the team, where we look to entertain, educate, and inspire the next generation of creative minds. My genre is definitely hip-hop and R&B, but I like to experiment with different sounds and melodies to expand my artistry. I think I’m most proud of my growth as an artist and our progress as a unit, from four friends to a staff of almost twenty has had its fair share of ups and downs but we know that it’s worth it. I feel our uniqueness lies in our relatability and authenticity. It’s hard to explain in words but I would encourage anyone to attend a show, shoot or event for a personal experience.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see the music industry continuing to grow along with hip-hop/rap music becoming more universal. But if you pay attention to today’s legends, they’ll show you that it’s bigger than just music. If anything, I see more artists and creatives having multiple outlets and streams of revenue to establish and maximize their brand.
