Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Tamayo.
Lauren, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
At an early age of 17, I had the opportunity to experience the world in a way most only dream of. I worked as an international model, taking on various contracts throughout Asia living and working in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. Meanwhile, I was flying back home to Seattle to also pursue my undergraduate studies. I felt pulled at times because I was trying to stay on the same path everyone else seemed to be on. The one where you graduate high school, go to college, find a J.O.B., buy a house – the American Dream?
I did two years at college before dropping out. I chose to pursue my career as an international model, full time. I was flying all over the world, searching for how I might make an impact on the world. From Malaysia to Mexico, Australia to Japan, and a backpacking trip throughout Europe, plus multiple trips back to the state, my frequent flyer miles were quickly adding up. A gap year from my college turned into two.
To everyone else I was living this beautiful and glamorous life, traveling all over the world but there came a point where I only had enough money in my bank account ($649 to be exact) to get me home. I realized then that I was done living life for others and long story short, I spent the next two years in pursuit of my Bachelor’s degree. I graduated from the University of Washington with my degree in Communications and International Relations. Immediately following graduation, I booked a one-way ticket to Bali. Because that’s what any other post-graduation soul searching 20 something year old would do, right?
I fully immersed myself in learning all thing graphic and web design, shortly after starting my own digital design and content creation business with my laptop in hand, an (almost steady) internet connection, and a whole lot of ambition. But truth is, I was struggling to make a consistent income, leaving me both stressed and overwhelmed. At the time, I was trying to sign enough clients to pay my bills, only just breaking even some months.
I realized that beyond supporting other entrepreneurs in their business by designing brands, websites, and offering copywriting skills, I felt a calling to take everything that I had learned and become a coach to support female entrepreneurs starting off in their business, just like what I wish I had.
I hired a coach and joined a mastermind, completely maxing out my credit card. I restructured my business in 3 weeks time and realized that I could decide my future, and so I did. I signed my first client within 4 days and now have the opportunity to work with my dream clients all around the world.
It is my mission to help online service-based entrepreneurs master their mindset, align with their brand messaging, and reclaim their time so that they can finally have the clarity and confidence to work less yet still achieve more.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been more like a rollercoaster ride to get to where I am today but I truly would not have had it any other way. I truly believe in balance so every challenge that I have had to endure has equally made me appreciate all the rewards and incredible experiences I have had the opportunity to experience.
Before becoming a mindset and business coach for female entrepreneurs, I worked for many years in the modeling industry which wasn’t easy. It was both physically and mentally challenging. I remember being on a contract in Thailand working for a local agency there. Weekly we were given an allowance to spend on traveling to castings, jobs, and for food as well. In order to get our allowance, we had to be to the exact measurements that we first gave when we arrived and if we were above, our weekly allowance was cut. It is to my belief that this was so that if you were above your measurements, a lower amount of weekly allowance would result in you not eating as much. To impose that on young girls (and guys) is a terrible thing.
As I mentioned before, I have taken a less than traditional route to get to where I am today and because of that, there have been many obstacles and challenges along the way. Choosing to go take the road less traveled, one that is vastly different from what many kids and young adults chose to take in your community or one different from what your parent’s generation experienced presented itself with challenges along the way. There were many times where I felt I had to justify my choices and decisions if anything were to veer off and I found myself struggling a bit, I felt guilty and a failure.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lauren Tamayo – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love how vibrant Los Angeles is. Each and every time I have the opportunity to visit the area, I am left completely inspired. There isn’t a moment where you don’t catch others following and pursuing their passions, to me that’s infectious. The only thing that I don’t vibe with as much with Los Angeles is how busy it can get, I’m more of a relaxed and go with the flow type of person so the hustle and bustle isn’t so much for me.
