Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Lymor.
Natalie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. First generation American my mom is Egyptian,French and my dad Israeli. My father passed away suddenly in a car accident when I was 11yrs old. I am the middle child of three, I learned to juggle school work with adult responsibilities. I worked my way through high school, while yearning for a creative outlet for which I had neither the time or financial resources. Then fate stepped in when I got my first film credit which came overnight on the set of Director Todd Solondz, who upgraded my role and enabled me to join The Screen Actors Guild. I packed up my bags for Hollywood, where I landed my first acting job after just one week ‘Kissing Strangers.’ I studied with famed acting coach Ivana Chubbuck whose master class has changed the depth of my acting dramatically. I am also a UCB graduate bringing depth and humor to all my roles. As well as being a working actor & writer, I am an acting coach for all ages and specialize with youth and teens. Where I am today came with many sacrifices, costs, training, passion, drive , dedication, commitment, consistency, education, experience and so much more!
Has it been a smooth road?
No. Not at all. The roads are always bumpy in the entertainment industry. Thick skin is a must! The first bump is the struggle to survive while pursuing acting. Next bump I’d say was building credits when you have no credits. Finding an agent/manager was a struggle and after that finding, the right ones were a struggle. Missing family, friends and the normal milestones along the way. However, overcoming my obstacles led me to where I am today and I love that with struggle comes success.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the story. Tell us more about the business.
I am an Actress.Writer.Coach. I recently wrapped Illegal Rose, Hip Hop Holiday and What Is Love. As well you can catch my latest Guest Star CBS The Inspectors. My writing partner Rachel Londyn and I just finished creating a sitcom pilot ‘Same But Different’ getting ready to pitch! Having trained with several elite acting coaches, I credit my years of personal mentorship and guidance from Ivana Chubbuck as a key to my success and advancement, both as a performer and as a coach. My experience and charisma allow me to make real connections with even the youngest of actors and guide them as they learn to engage the material on a deeper level. I have a gift for instilling a positive attitude towards the natural pressures and stresses of auditioning making me a favorite amongst dedicated actors and parents. One stop shop! How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Digital/Virtual. Now with Social Media, the platform to be seen is huge and wide! As well the industry has already transitioned from in person auditions to self tapes sent from home. My coaching business went from in person to private online Skype. I think everything will be done remotely accept the actual filming I hope 😉 And an exciting big shift for female directors and diversity as a whole.
