Today we’d like to introduce you to Oleksandr Honcharenko.
Oleksandr, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started to make music when I was 11 years old after my friend showed me FL studio and the basic rules of the program. After this I was working in this program just for fun, making beats for friends but Seriously I started to learn a music production and work hard when I was 14 years old and I created my first artist project “Skyflim”. That was my first experience of releasing my own music thru a labels on a different platforms like: Spotify, Itunes, Beatport, etc. And I had one successful song called “Skyflim – Power On” that reached 930 thousand playing, I was super happy with that.
After Skyflim I have decided to change my artist name to “Leat’eq” and start to release a different music like Trap and Dubstep. At the same time I changed my name I started to play in a different Clubs in Kyiv (Ukraine) – in 2016 I made a funny music video called “How to make a track using your girlfriend” that reached more than 200 mln views around the whole internet (Facebook, Instagram, Vk, youtube) Lots of facebook pages were uploaded my video and shared it that helped me a lot. After this, I released lots of new music on a different platforms and labels and moved to LA in 2017, where I started to work on my new tracks and my debut ep “No Fear” with my friend Aleksei and a talented vocalists Jaylon and Olani. Our ep has reached 350 k plays on Spotify this year. After this ep I released my collaboration with Flosstradamus and Blvk Jvck – Grind or Die that reached 1 Million plays on Spotify.
Now I am working on my new music ^^
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
That was a very hard road with lots of struggles. To be honest no one believed in me besides my family and a few close friends… other people were saying I’m crazy and I have to find some other “stable job”and I had struggled with my College cause it is very hard to study and work on your album at the same time, specially when you are very inspired and you don’t wanna go to the class haha. I was struggling with criticism, cause my music was really bad haha but I couldn’t handle criticism well in the beginning and I thought I am the worst, with the time I overcame it and now I love good criticism.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans is to become a very well known Dj/Artist so I could help people from a different countries to make their dreams come true as much as its possible.
