Meet Tim Schnaible of Match Tough Tennis Academy in San Fernando Valley, Woodland Hills, Encino, and Agoura Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Schnaible.

Tim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 1994, after playing college tennis at California Lutheran University, I started as a full-time tennis coach. I was coaching approximately 45-50 hours a day, 7 days a week for about eight years before I started my own tennis academy, Schnaible Tennis Academy opened in 2002 and had a tremendous following which includes over 25 sectionally and nationally ranked players, including two USTA National Champions. By 2009 I had taken over the Balboa Tennis Center in Encino and created “Match Tough Tennis Academy”. In 2011 I expanded my business and moved into the Lindero Country Club in Agoura Hills and then in 2014 I opened the Warner Tennis Center in Woodland Hills, CA.

Today, Match Tough Tennis Academy is running at all three of those locations and we typically see over 300 junior players a week. Match Tough Tennis Academy offers tennis classes 7 days a week, winter and summer camps, Junior Team Tennis, and hosts 30 USTA tournaments annually and another 10-15 local events throughout the year. Match Tough Tennis Academy has a staff of 18 coaches all with very diverse and some international backgrounds.

We pride ourselves on creating a healthy, positive environment for junior tennis players to enjoy the lifelong sport of tennis. We work with all levels of players and whether you’re a beginner or National Champion we have programs and coaching staff to meet all players needs.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worth doing comes without obstacles and challenges. Anyone who tells you it’s been a “smooth road” probably isn’t very successful or has the guts to take risks. Each location has had very different road blocks and started with nothing in terms of market share or active participation. We have had to establish all 3 sites from the ground up.

General struggles always include things like contracts, personnel, public vs private entities, etc. I wouldn’t care to get into specific struggles for the terms of this article.

My #1 goal is to always meet the needs of the players in our programs and help all become successful on the tennis court. I am always asking “Are we doing enough? Are we creating enough avenues for success?”. And I am always challenging my coaches to grow and improve their skills and their talents in order for them to be successful as well.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Match Tough Tennis Academy – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Match Tough Tennis Academy specializes in what I consider to be the most important piece of what we do. WE CARE!!

We care about the kids we come into contact with and the privilege/trust that parents have given us to be coaches to their children. Our programs specialize in the develop of junior tennis programs.

We care that when we put on a tournament we are putting on an event that kids will remember as positive and fun whether they win or lose. We want to create an experience for parents and their kids that they remember for a lifetime.

We care that tennis provides life lessons and qualities that kids will use for the rest of their lives. The ability to work towards a goal, deal with success and adversity, manage their time, and develop self-confidence that will allow them to be successful in any endeavor they pursue in life.

I believe that permeates throughout our locations and our parents are such a tremendous support system for us. They become our #1 marketing piece because they spread the word to schools, friends, social functions etc.

At the end of the day, we specialize in all aspects of Junior Player Development.
