Meet Robin Bielman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Bielman.

Robin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always loved to write. So, when my kids were young I decided to do some freelance writing while I stayed home with them. One of my clients had me writing about brides and weddings and it was those pieces that led to another writer asking if I’d ever written a romance novel and if not then I should. The second after she asked that question, I heard a bell ring in my head that said that’s exactly what I should do. I realized that my favorite part of films and television shows, and the books I read was always the romance. I love love! I love happily ever after! THAT was where my passion was and I wanted to explore it.

I immediately started reading romance novels after that (I was a mysteries girl) and joined Romance Writers of America, as well as my local RWA chapter, Los Angeles Romance Authors. That was twelve years ago. It took me five years of writing and querying, and not giving up before I sold my first book. I remember vividly how holy-moly thrilled I was to read the email that Entangled Publishing wanted my story. Since then, I’ve hit the USA Today Bestsellers List, published over fifteen novels (my twentieth book is releasing in September, which is just crazy pants), and made incredible friendships with writers and readers from all over the world. It’s truly a dream come true and I’m beyond grateful for the amazing support from my family and those in the publishing world.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. You might think writing gets easier with each book, but let me tell you, it does not. LOL While I have written many books that flowed quickly and easily, I’ve also written books that were sooo hard. I don’t know why exactly some books are harder than others, but I think part of the reason is I’m always striving to be better. Some days I’ll finish my daily word count and think, that’s pretty good. Other days I’ll finish and think, that sucks, I’m a terrible writer, why do I even bother? You know, all those self-sabotaging thoughts that make us doubt ourselves. I always get back to it because I can’t imagine not writing, but there have been days when I think I should quit. Those are the days when I’ll reach out to a writer pal and discover 1) I’m not alone in my feelings and 2) I’m super lucky to have friends who have my back and help me work through whatever struggle I’ve got going on.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m currently focused on a 3-book series that takes place in Los Angeles and centers around three brothers.  All of my books are contemporary romances that are both sexy and sweet, and I think I’m best known for stories that are light, humorous and full of heart. I try to write characters that readers can relate to and stories that leave readers with a smile on their face. I’m proud of every one of my books, but along with having published novels, I’m most grateful and appreciative of the friendships I’ve made and the support I’ve received from fellow writers and readers along the way. Writing is very solitary, but I’m never alone.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was all about sports. I started playing tennis when I was seven and pretty much played every day until I went to high school. My mom drove me all over Southern California to play in tournaments, and as a pre-teen I was a nationally ranked junior and had dreams of being a professional one day. That or a marine biologist since I loved the ocean. Writing (as a career) wasn’t even on my radar although my English classes were a close second to science classes. I also loved going to the movies, the beach, and hanging out with friends.
