Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Brazon.
Isabel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
15 years ago I came to Los Angeles filled with dreams and aspirations. After studying Social Communications and working in the children entertaining industry since age 16, I decided to create Baila Baila while studying Graphic Design in Santa Monica College. What at first was “an assignment” for a web development class, turned into my dream come true: Baila Baila. During my college years, I was working doing mommy and me classes for several companies. During these classes, I started to create my own songs, my own style and gain a lot of experience working in learning centers, playgrounds, and schools. Eventually, Baila Baila took shape and I launched it with the release of my first album: “Baila Baila”. I wanted to offer an alternative to introduce children to language in a fun manner through music and movement. The idea is that the very first impression they have of the language is attractive allowing them to accept it better, keep them engage and learn in the long along with parents and caregiver. Soon the company was becoming more and more popular among schools and bilingual families through our classes, birthday party services, concerts, music and youtube videos. Teaching full time continues to bring new ideas, new lyrics, new ambitions and I had written enough material for a second album. My Album Amarillo came out in 2014 when the company expanded and I hired teachers to continue spreading the Baila Baila seed in Los Angeles. This was also the year when my son Lucas was born and I needed the support of loving, talented musicians which I have been so blessed to work with. Becoming a mother has definitely inspired me and given me the strength to continue to provide an excellent opportunity to families who, like me, are raising their children in a foreign country. At the moment Baila Baila has reached a wide audience nationally and overseas with our music and youtube videos, our classes are in several locations in Los Angeles, and in 2016 Baila Baila opened the doors of a new studio in Santa Monica and releases a third album: A Volar. Many more albums will come, more studios, more ideas, as children continue to inspire us to provide educational resources for families and educators to teach Spanish through music and creative techniques.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
What started as a one-person show, me being: the artist, the composer, the teacher, the graphic designer, manager, administrator, and accountant, rapidly became a managing puzzle and very difficult task to tackle. Now as an ambitioned entrepreneur mom the task has become even harder and, weird enough, more attractive. Things have not come easily to me in my life so when they are difficult they become a goal, which made me apply myself harder and shaped me into the best version of myself which I continue to discover as years go by. Finding a balance between my personal life and running Baila Baila has definitely been difficult, I am sure I am not the only one to say this but I wish my days have more hours. Now with the studio in Santa Monica, it is almost like starting from zero. Seeing it taking off slowly have been satisfying but a good test to my ability to stay focused, materializing my ideas and patience.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Baila Baila – what should we know?
Baila Baila was created with the idea of helping bilingual families raise their children. Baila Baila uses music to make learning Spanish fun. The idea is that the very first impression children have of the language is attractive allowing them to accept it better, keep them engage and learn it effectively.
We are known for our catchy tunes to learn Spanish. We have three releases: Baila Baila, Amarillo, and A Volar. Our music is being used in various educational programs, schools, and families to learn and incentivize the love for latin culture and Spanish. We are also known for our YouTube videos on our Baila Baila Music channel. Locally people know Baila Baila for our Mommy and me classes for babies and toddlers, our birthday parties, and concerts. Baila Baila is also the very first studio to future Spanish music Classes in Los Angeles.
I am very proud to create music that is appealing to parents and tailor to children. Music that helps family raise their children in a second language. I am proud to see the results of the program in my own child who, at the moment age 2, has chosen to speak Spanish over English. Another great achievement has being to reach one million views in our video: “Da una vuelta en tu lugar” and I am certain we will reach another million in the music video of Baila Baila song. I am very proud of have opened a place where kids always look forward to come back to because they feel comfortable and truly happy while learning a second language.
Baila Baila is the only music Studio that specializes on learning Spanish in Los Angeles. We offer classes for children ages 0-5 to learn along with their parents through music, movement, and arts. We offer classes in our studio and give the option for families to create their own group at home. Our approach is play based and people prefer it when trying to choose a program for their children.
