Yusuke, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Kura Sushi USA is a consolidated subsidiary of Kura Corporation in Osaka, Japan. We entered the U.S. market in 2009 based in Irvine, CA. As of now, we have 21 locations across the U.S. and are thrilled to announce our 22nd location opening in Las Vegas, NV in July 2019.
Has it been a smooth road?
We are currently trying to spread brand awareness. Some people who are not so fond of raw fish see our name “Kura Revolving Sushi Bar” and think we only serve sushi, however, thats not true. We have a lot of side menu and appetizers! To name some, we serve ramen, udon, tempura, gyoza, takoyaki, edamame, salad, and more.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kura Sushi USA, Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Kura Sushi USA, our philosophy revolves around the term “Food Revolution.” This means we provide natural, organic, additive-free food, based on Japanese traditional meals. Not only limited to sushi ingredients, but our ginger, soy sauce, vinegar, and broths also do not contain additives. It has been our fundamental principle to prioritize customer’s health over anything, and we are proud to say all foods are served fresh and safe.
Our unique dining experience is what sets us apart from others! From the conveyor belt that is constantly revolving around the whole restaurant to the express lane that shoot out your orders fresh from the kitchen. To list a few more extraordinary features, customers are able to place in orders through their ordering touch panel & receive free prizes for every 15 sushi plate!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
It’s a fun city! There are lots of things to experience and many places to explore. The culture and people are diverse. Also if you drive for a couple of minutes up north or to the west, you can enjoy hiking or even going to the beach. I love the sea. It reminds me of my childhood.
I grew up in Japan, Fukuoka Prefecture, and would go fishing with my family. One time I went fishing with my grandfather, we woke up about 4AM in the morning when the sun’s not even up yet. My grandpa had his customized gimmick and caught more fish than any other family member.
I feel fortunate to have experienced eating fresh seafood from a young age. I believe it has greatly influenced my current work and feel that it is my duty to spread Japanese food culture to the world.
