Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Roach.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have almost 10 years of experience as a Makeup and Hair Artist. I work in Film, Commercial, Fashion, Theater, Private Clientele and anything that does not fit into these categories. I studied at Cinema Makeup School and am constantly continuing my education in my makeup and hair skills and business. It has not been a quick and easy road but one driven by passion and the journey has been worth it, I hope to keep growing and can’t wait to see where this incredible journey takes me. I have been so lucky to have a career that I love, I am also so much more than a makeup artist but a little too shy to lay it all out for you in this interview :). I have a wonderful family, boyfriend, and group of friends who are incredibly supportive and my biggest cheerleaders.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth having comes easy.
Also, when I joined The Powder Group my journey became less of a struggle because I am now surrounded by a group of like-minded professionals and education.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Every week is so different, I am so lucky to have a job that continually takes me on so many adventures. My career is constantly evolving and has taken me through working in film, fashion, commercial, theater, bridal, educator, private and celebrity clientele work. When I do makeup and hair, I really like to listen to my clients and create a look perfect for them, I feel their energy and really listen to them and that helps me create a look. I also feel like my love of art really inspires my makeup artistry.
What were you like growing up?
As a child I always enjoyed creating beauty: painting, drawing, dancing, I used to style and cut all of my doll’s hair and do their makeup. I remember every time my mom left I would run into her room and play in her makeup and then take it off before she knew what I was doing, she just recently found out I did that and I am 35.
