Today we’d like to introduce you to A.D. Scott.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Adrian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The musical journey began at a family reunion (age 11) after receiving a mix-tape from Peter Gunz about his son Cory Gunz. I listened an learned to recite every lyric. This put the music dream closer to home and made me more eager to go after it. I wanted to start making my own songs, so I learned to wire up some old computer speakers for input and began recording my voice. Falling in love with the process, I obsessed myself with the different audio engineering techniques used to make my vocals sound as good as the ones that inspired me to record. This closer evened the playing field on the quality of my own sounds would create from my oftentimes Home/Dorm room studio. I started to upload energetic videos of performing songs online and gained a following that landed me auditions for major television networks, record labels, and management companies. Ultimately leading to me the hardest decision of my life, choosing to leave college to pursue music entrepreneurship, It has been a rough road, but I am delighted in my successes. Most of my gigs have been request for various forms of professional voice-over work.
Has it been a smooth road?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road, but I’m blessed to have my team supporting me when times get down. Leaving college to pursue music entrepreneurship meant now I have to eat off this music I create. As a D.I.Y. musician I grossly underestimated the work it would take before steady income would roll in. Lack in sales forced me to get odd jobs to make ends meet and ultimately took away from the creative process early on. The constant up and down of entrepreneurship caused great mental strain throughout the creative process. I cannot stress enough how important having the right people who love and care for you is.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
A.D. Scott Music is part of a bigger venture Mach Speed Audio, a full-service Audio Engineering and Production studio. Here I specialize in Vocal tracking and production from record features to voice-over work. I’ve had many proud moments but what I’m most proud of as a company is holding on to my obsession with audio and cultivating it into a product that provides an outlet for expression. Known for the high energy and cadence, I take pride in delivering the highest quality vocal productions in a timely fashion. Another proud moment is being gifted a pair of signature headphones from super producer Just Blaze as a nod of acknowledgment for my work on a song he produced.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The D.I.Y. Musician industry is booming and I predict more people are going to dive into making higher quality recordings digitally from home. Music is being consumed at a higher rate and video is rising right along with it so, I do see music becoming more of a visual art-form in the near future as well.
