Meet Sadie Jo Reil of Sadie Jo Jewelry Co. in Orange County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Jo Reil.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sadie Jo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started making jewelry at the age of 16. There’s something about the malleability of metal that I’ve always been drawn to. I love how easy it is to form, and how you can take a vague, dull material and transform it into a beautiful and one-of-a-kind wearable artwork. In the years passing, I spent my time hammering away on copper and silver in my dad’s car garage in Michigan, where welding and hammering were no un-familiar friends of ours. Much of where I am today has sprouted from my dad’s humble beginnings as a small business owner. He has always set a standard for a hard-working, no excuse kind of mentality.

We spent a lot of time working side by side, and as my skills developed my thirst for learning grew stronger. I said my goodbyes to my small rural town and headed out to the West Coast and attended the Gemological Institute of America where I completed the Graduate Jeweler course in 2017. I found myself flourishing here and falling in love with the intricacies, subtle details that is jewelry-making as I turned my passion into a true-art form. I took my big ideas and talent to the city, and have continued to design and create under-neath other amazing artists in the L.A area. My own personal line, The Golden Goddess Collection, will be dropping July 15, 2019 via Instagram and my webpage! Stay tuned folks!

Has it been a smooth road?
As rocky as they come! Being a young entrepreneur in Los Angeles with little-to-no experience running a business has been filled with ups-and-downs. Continuing to be molded and shaped by growing pains is quite humbling but honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful as these have been the same experiences that have made me think smarter & harder, and overall has made me stronger as a business-woman, artist, and human being! I want to always continue to embrace all life’s beautiful messes & keep my passion and integrity as an artist at the forefront of everything I do.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Golden Goddess collection is a hand-carved collection of rings, earrings, and necklaces that is rooted deep in Ancient Egyptian history. Lost wax dates back to 3000 B.C where ancient people used beeswax to carve amulets, neckpieces, and intricate sculptures that were meant to adorn the pharaohs and great rulers of that time. Sadie Jo Jewelry Co hand-carves each piece out of wax in an in-home studio using old world techniques and a selection of rubies, emeralds, and sapphires to create unique jewelry pieces. Pieces that evokes a feeling, a lifestyle, in which the women who wears each piece feels as if she is adorning herself in beautiful jewels and emulating strength and beauty throughout her day. Keep in touch as The Golden Goddess collection will be launching July 15, 2019 via Instagram and Etsy.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles has such a wide range of creatives and artists that it opens the door for so many opportunities to flourish in whatever business type you are looking to create. It takes hard work, diligence, and the dreaded vulnerability of just putting yourself out there to the public eye. On behalf of the Los Angeles jewelry industry specifically, we have artistans of all skill levels and talents working collectively to better the industry. Looking to break the mold of the traditional mom and pop shop or large manufacturing firms and striving to create individualistic jewelry pieces.
