Today we’d like to introduce you to Corynne Lynch.
Corynne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My love affair with hair started when I was 7 in my backyard beauty salon. My first client (besides the sweet haircuts I’d give myself, sorry mom) was our family dog, Jessica, who would be the unfortunate beneficiary of my favorite cut – the mohawk. Thank goodness I grew out of that phase. I colored and styled my friend’s hair all through high school but I really cut my teeth in the industry when I was 16, running the front desk at a large salon. It was there that my passion took root and I began building the foundation for my career as a stylist.
With over 12 years in the industry and a career that has spanned two continents, I’ve established multiple loyal clienteles – from the jet setters of Australia to the woman who runs San Francisco and the fashionistas of LA.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’ve definitely experienced my fair share of struggles. But what road is smooth? I feel like the stars have aligned in a lot of ways for me and my career, but nothing has happened without action on my part. I’ve had made tough calls about uprooting myself several times after successfully building clienteles, but I’ve found that those moves have forced me to be resourceful, kept me motivated, and it has also fostered an environment of growth and propelled me forward in my craft.
A Styled Life by Corynne Lynch – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
A Styled Life was born from my desire to educate my clients “beyond the chair” so that they were more educated about the products they used, products they shouldn’t use, styling tips and everything in between. As I took the leap to end my career in a traditional salon environment, A Styled Life morphed into the hub in which I stayed connected with my widespread clientele scattered between San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, and Denver.
My philosophy is that to be the best, you need to do it all, and to do it all well you need to understand how each service effects the other. I specialize in cuts, color, extensions, blowouts, styles, as well as Keratin and Brazilian Blowout treatments. By providing all services, I am able to get the results that my clients want because each service directly affects the other.
My business now is centered around servicing clients in the environment in which is most convenient for them, whether it be their home, office, on set or I invite my clients to come to me. By traveling to my client’s, it helps maximize their time and keeps them out of the LA/city traffic. They get to be in the comfort of their own home, kick back, and relax with a glass of wine or sit in their home office while they get pampered. With that said, what I do goes much deeper than making lives easier by allowing my clients to multitask. I have become a therapist, a friend, and a confidant. Building genuine rapport with my clients is one thing that is important to my business. I love watching people walk out that door with the biggest smile on their face and know they are ready to take on the day, it is the best part of my job.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is not about building a huge empire. It is about using my craft and time with my clients for good, and making every person who sits in my chair feel more relaxed, positive, present, and ready to conquer the world…and have kick ass hair while doing it. Knowing I have had a positive impact, this is my success story.
