Meet Jarrod Williams of Mauricewillphotos in Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarrod Williams.

Jarrod, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m from the Bay Area and now based In LA for the last eight years. I started my photography journey five years ago when a friend suggested I pick up a camera and take photos to earn extra money. Never would off dreamed that I would find something that most would call a passion but to me is my true calling. Photography has given me the greatest joy of creating images that people love and use to influence or inspire others. A great photographer that I call a friend said in an interview. It’s not about who you know, it’s about who knows you. That statement really resinates with me because a lot of my work is from someone who has seen my images or from a previous client referring me. For me this is at times is very rewarding and others very exhausting but I wouldn’t change anything if I had to start over. I find myself at events with major celebrities capturing moments that will live forever. What allows me to stay booked I believe as a photographer is that I treat everyone like their family and my energy and excitement of capturing that image makes that individual appreciate me even more.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Never a smooth road at all. By being a self-taught photographer, there are so many intricate details that you must learn to create great images on the fly. A perfect Example is a wedding. You have only one opportunity to get the shot while the reception is going on. You must be aware of all your surroundings, lighting and other unforeseen events. There is a lot of competition in the photography industry as well. The fact that at times you may feel like your images are better than others but someone else gets the job because that client has worked with them before.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Mauricewillphotos story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m a content creator for Influencers that are partnered with multiple brands in the clothing fashion industry. Also an event photographer for music artist and liquor brands. I’m proud that my clients respect what I do and are appreciative of my quality and quick turnaround.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
The role of good luck has played a major part in my business. I’ve been fortunate to have made some incredible partnerships and continue to be placed in opportunities that are helping my business grow.
