Meet Salmannsa (Sal) Rodgers of BootyBuilding by Sal in DTLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Salmannsa (Sal ) Rodgers.

Salmannsa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started back in 2015. After a sudden passing of my grandfather to whom I was very close too. I went into a deep depression and was unhappy with my life. To get me out of the house and be a bit social my husband got me a membership at Golds Gym. I use to dislike the gym a lot. I thought lifting weights would make me look bigger and masculine. I used to be a runway model so slim and slender was my look for years. If I ever would go to the gym, I’ve only used the treadmill for 30min-1h.

But now something else sparked in me and I started going to the gym on a regular basis and experimenting with the verity equipment that the gym had to offer (not just the regular treadmill that I was used to) my passion for weight lifting grew stronger and stronger. Soon booty building became a hobby of mine. I started studding the glute muscles, the right type of muscle activation movement, proper form, and the most important the art of isolating the glutes.

I never thought looking back at it now that out of all of this I would become a booty building coach. Having 1on1 clients, online clients, and weekly booty building classes. My grandfather always told me I would be a great teacher one day, that I have it naturally in me. I know now what he meant and that he sliming down at me as a peruse my dreams.

Has it been a smooth road?
I always been a person that put my passion as number 1 priority. I learned quickly that consistency is key, with pretty much everything in life you want to achieve. So the hardest part was probably finding time for my private life and my friends. As I put my gym life first and everything else second. Not a lot of my friends agreed to my decisions. For me, the gym was my therapy as much as my growth. Sure it became slightly my obsession but its something I don’t regret and if I can turn back and do it all over again, I would. The gym also allowed me to create me some new friendships.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with BootyBuilding by Sal – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in booty/glute growth. I love to connect and help other women to achieve their fitness goals. My motto is that we all come from different walks of life and have different levels of fitness experiences. If you attend one of my booty building classes (whether you are a beginner or advanced), I tell everyone that this is a class to learn we all start from somewhere. We are here to learn and push each other to become better. I’m very keen on proper form before anything. A lot of misconception in the fitness world comes from “the heavier you lift, the quicker you grow muscles,” but that’s not always the case. Booty building is so much more than just heavy squats and lunges.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The best part of DTLA is the verity of people from all walks of life and so much culture. What I like least about DTLA is that its so much homelessness. It’s just so heartbreaking. I grew up in Sweden so it’s definitely a different experience.
