Check out Flobo Boyce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flobo Boyce.

Flobo, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m a Brooklyn, NY native and everyone knows we love telling stories about anything. On top of that, I’ve always loved entertaining people. My primary love is stand-up comedy, but I’ve worked (or am working as ) a mobile DJ, author, Master of Ceremonies, Professional Wrestling Ring Announcer, and radio host.

I originally came through Southern California for film school, because back then the “dream job” was to be a film editor. Many years and career shifts later, I’ve worked in the entertainment industry as a social media director, video editor, and content creator.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
My art is wholly on stage. As a stand up comic, it all starts with the written word. The process is sort off a meditative experience. I ask myself “How do I feel about the world around me, today?” “What angers me? What makes me laugh? What makes me concerned?”

I came from the days of Rabbit Ears television. Late night talk shows had a responsibility of not only being funny or entertaining but educating others on current events. It’s the utility of the art that makes it the most appealing to me.

When I go on stage, my job is to make the audience forget about their worries. That every dollar they spent on a ticket was more than worth it. It’s escapism mixed with levity.

How can artists connect with other artists?
Two words: Social Media.

I’m constantly surprised how many other artists are opening to connect and “talk shop” as soon as someone reaches out to them.

Reach out to someone you admire. Ask for that collab. Inquire about that technique!

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I usually perform at Flappers Comedy Club in Burbank.

My full-length special, “American For Now” is available on Spotify and other music streaming services.

I am also an Aftershow host over on AfterbuzzTV. Any given week over 7,000 people streams my recap performances for television shows such as WWE RAW, Star Trek Discovery, and Netflix’s “Chambers.”
