Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Friese.
Kyle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a freelance artist who finally made the leap to do it full Time in November of 2018, and then on April 6th of 2019, I had a surgery to remove an aneurysm in my wrist. The aneurysm was in my left wrist, and I am a left-handed artist, so I haven’t been able to work since the surgery.
However, I have been drawing everyday with my right hand and posting it onto my Instagram page. I’ve been calling the series Lefty Right Handers.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. It’s been hard to find enough work to pay the rent, and now with the surgery, I can’t work at all.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Friestyle story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a freelance artist. I mostly make show posters for comedians, but I also do portraits and other commissions.
What I’m most proud of are my webcomics That I make and post onto Instagram. I do not make money off of these webcomics, but it is what I find most fulfilling.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would like to be selling more prints of my original artwork as opposed to doing commissions for people. I would also like to have a larger following for my webcomics, and perhaps have a comic book series.
