Today we’d like to introduce you to Carli Jo Cabrera.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carli Jo. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I grew up in a small town in rural Wisconsin but moved to Los Angeles when I was 21 to pursue a career in the film industry. After working on movies, commercials and reality shows, I landed a job working as a Casting Producer for The Bachelor for ten years. Although it was an amazing experience, I realized it wasn’t my soul calling. I had no clue WHAT mission my soul was on but what I did know, was that NOT being on it was creating disconnection, confusion, and depression.
My inner compass was spinning wild when one day when I received an email from Layla Martin announcing the launch of her Tantric Institute of Integrated Sexuality. A certification program to be a Sex, Love and Relationship Coach (SLRC). I never thought about being a coach and honestly didn’t know much about it. But that night I went home and applied.
A year later, I found myself attending a Cannabis Feminist Women’s Circle. As a consumer of nearly 20 years, cannabis has always been an enhancer of relaxation, fun, and sex. However, in these circles, I learned how to use the plant intentionally. A few months later, I was asked to join the Cannabis Feminist team as a Cannabis Consultant to help educate women on the many benefits of cannabis.
One week in Palm Springs, during a business retreat for my SLRC training, I had women from all around the world gathering to experience California’s exciting cannabis products. Each night in my room I held women’s circles where we smoked, rubbed cannabis lube on our bodies/vaginas and discussed its benefits.
It was there, while we were rubbing our bodies that I started to feel the calling to combine cannabis and sex. One month after that I led a Sensuality Women’s Circle that was later featured in the NY Times.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Hell no! haha! The struggles are what makes the success even brighter!! My first year of business was so confusing! I was trying to figure out what my focus was, WHY cannabis worked with sexuality, who my ideal client was and what problem I was helping them with.
Some of my major struggles were:
-Self-worth, asking for and charging my value.
-My direction, focus, time management, and confidence.
-Having a million ideas but no sense as to which to execute.
-Choosing two taboo topics – sex and cannabis, so marketing was a mess.
-Explaining what I did was confusing at times.
-This was in 2017, so cannabis was still taboo and not yet 100% legal..
-Explaining what I do to my small town Wisconsin family was the hardest! haha
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I specialize in helping couples who don’t feel sexually satisfied learn how to increase connection and intimacy by guiding them through a unique process that uses tantra and cannabis in a safe and sacred way.
Through this process, couples learn their sexual archetypes and how to feed each other’s desires. I’m proud of the success I’ve had not only in my marriage but the support I’ve provided other couples.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really identify with the word “luck.” However I feel incredibly grateful for getting published in the NY Times one month into business. Marrying a man who owned a condo so I could stop paying my $1500 rent which afforded me the opportunity to quit my job at The Bachelor and go all in on my business. I wouldn’t say I’ve had any “bad luck.” I view the challenges as necessary for my journey.
