Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas James.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My love of photography started as a child, taking photos with a neon-green 110 camera. From processing black and white film as a teenager to early gigs as a retail product photographer, I’ve rarely been seen without a camera in my hands over the past two decades. It is a passion that continues to grow and open doors for me both creatively, and professionally.
Photography is an amazing outlet that provides peace, clarity and an endless ceiling for growth.
Please tell us about your art.
Beautiful landscapes, plants, and nature? Yes! But I also love being able to capture unseen, often overlooked parts of life. To turn something that most people walk past without noticing, into a piece of inspirational art. Shining light onto otherwise dark parts of our world.
My goal with photography is to tell a story and to capture an essence so that the viewer is immediately transported to the time and place of the image. Capturing a moment and a memory in complete detail. Freezing time, if only for a second.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Don’t get caught up in current trends. Use post-processing as a tool in your arsenal, not a crutch to make your images interesting.
Remain true to yourself and your artistic vision. Never give up; the biggest breakthroughs come after periods of turmoil.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My website and Instagram are the best places to view my photography work.
Prints can be purchased through my Etsy store.
