Meet Carolyn Richardson of Music 4 Scenes in Encino

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolyn Richardson.

Carolyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My final semester in college I was a part of a “study abroad” program which was really my way of moving to Chicago from Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana, about an hour away. The “Chicago Arts Program” helped me secure my first internship in the music business at Sony Music Distribution. That turned into a job, and the rest is history.

After Sony Music, I worked for Live Nation, RLJ Entertainment, and Entertainment Tonight and The Insider. I had always done consulting on the side, but after ten-plus years at CBS, it was time to move on. It was then I launched Music 4 Scenes, to incorporate all of my music business expertise into a consulting agency that provides music supervision, consultations, education, and artist services.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey has not been smooth, but the vision has always been clear. Managing expectations with clients who don’t fully understand how the industry operates, managing cash flow during an economic downturn and balancing work and life are the major challenges I strive to overcome. Because I planned for obstacles, they don’t discourage me, they fuel my hunger to become more successful and expand my reach.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Music 4 Scenes – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Music 4 Scenes provides the following services:
-Music Supervision and Talent Coordination
-Music Licensing, Negotiation and Administration
-Music Business Consultation
-Custom Music Creation
-Music Business Panels/Workshops/Conferences

We are proud to have clients who are multi-platinum songwriters, major record labels, music libraries, indie artists, publishers, and music business-focused organizations. To have a hand in so many arms of the music industry is unique, but as creatives become more business-savvy and professionals get more creative, we feel we can help bridge that gap and help both sides walk into the future as creative professionals. So, what’s next? Any big plans?
After a nine-year hiatus, I have started to perform again as a singer.

I am a vocal contractor and one session I was short a singer and decided to use my classically-trained voice to ensure I delivered for the client.
