Today we’d like to introduce you to Anatole Lardeyret.
Anatole, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a young filmmaker working as a director, actor, and editor. I started my career back in my hometown Paris, France where I studied Stanislavsky acting methods at the “Cours Florent” a very prestigious French acting school under the guidance of actor/director Christophe Lorcat. That is when I realized my passion for directing when I started directing scenes and plays. I then joined the “Conservatoire Libre du Cinema Francais” (CLCF) where I studied film making for two years. I then moved to the United States in Los Angeles to pursue my career and joined the New York Film Academy where I acquired my BFA in filmmaking.
I started to direct because I was very comfortable working with actors and I found passion in creating a scene and convey complex emotions and philosophical idea through the use of Mise-en-scene, Composition, and thorough understanding of human emotion. My editing career took off during my time in college where I would edit my own projects and some friend’s movies. I really took a liking to it and started to edit professionally on Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. I adored editing because of the magic that can happen in the editing room and consider it as the final rewrite of the movie and can make or break a movie.
I then worked my way from being an intern at Troy Entertainment LLC to Production Assistant on “The American Connection” (Featuring Grammy award-winning actors) to Assistant Video Editor for award-winning director Matt Ornstein’s upcoming political documentary to finally Freelance Video Editor for the UMC channel (Recently bought by AMC) which streams on their site and Amazon prime.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As anyone in this industry, I struggled a lot. There is a lot of competition and to actually make a living is really hard because as a new member of this industry the rates are very low if not non-existent. But as I persevered, I found more and more opportunity with connections and colleagues along the way.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Heartistik Production – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are a multi-media production company that provides high-quality services for professionals and aspiring artists in various domains ranging from production, post-production, social media and photography. Our goal is to stand out in the entertainment industry by finding a perfect commercial, artistic and narrative balance.
I am proud of what we have accomplished so far thanks to the help of Tanya Gawdi our Lead photographer and Gaurang Bhat, our Lead producer. But there is much more to come.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plan is to grow as a Director and Video Editor by building my experience since it has only been two years since I graduated. I also am building a clientele for our company so that our reputation lives up to the highest standard.
Once we are ready, we will fund our own production or through our clientele find investors interested in producing Features/TV Show with us.
