Meet Adhiraj Hangal of Roses On Roses in Saratoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adhiraj Hangal.

Adhiraj, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began coding my freshman year of high school, eventually building a couple of websites for small clients and freelancing on the side. I soon realized that for me, building websites was not as fun and interesting as managing the websites themselves and generating/directing traffic to them.

At the time, I was also very into fashion and viewed clothing as much more than fabric—rather as a component of one’s identity and a means of reflecting one’s personal beliefs, visions, or aesthetic taste. I personally look for inspiration in dystopian/futuristic things, art, and minimalism/different lifestyles to find what I like.

In fact, to me, the fun in fashion came from finding inspiration outside and then hunting for that perfect garment in store. I simply couldn’t find what I was looking for most of the time, which prompted me to begin my journey in the fashion industry.

I aimed to create a lifestyle brand which consists of high-quality, long-lasting garments, with each piece reflecting a particular experience or mood I’ve encountered. And with that, Roses On Roses was born.

Has it been a smooth road?
The business has had its highs and lows. By far, the biggest struggle was configuring the brand’s initial infrastructure and getting the first collection out to the public. Also, thanks to my dad—who spent an insane amount of time with me on this—I got to learn how tax filing works for businesses.

In addition, I’ve dealt with my fair share of failure, for example, if a piece doesn’t sell. Through instances like such, I have grasped the importance of execution as ideas are plentiful and without the correct execution, they are worth nothing. I also learned to be careful with working with friends as circumstances change, and ideas will conflict.

A good work partner should offer a critical component to the idea, and not just be there to share the workload. Time management is critical to success, and over time I learned to become content with missing a party or not being able to attend some social gathering due to pending tasks, whether it be for school or the business.

Though this might seem like quite the list of issues, do not let this deter you from beginning your own venture. Problems are inevitable, and the sooner one tackles them, the sooner it stops being a problem.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Roses On Roses – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Roses On Roses is an online retail store that sells lifestyle apparel & accessories. At the core, the brand strives to promote individualization, blending together antiestablishment styles and refined lifestyle tastes. With my target customer audience being other like-minded venturesome personas my age, I can stay true and be confident in my artistic direction and consistently drop merchandise that pops.

In addition, I figured that the most effective method to deliver the best customer experience was to evaluate my own previous dissatisfactions with retailers and implement systems in my business model to fix them. I tend to release merchandise a couple of times a year in limited quantity, and in the past year, each collection has been getting bigger and is more comprehensive in terms of variety.

For instance, the brand unveiled new mens/women’s shorts, tie-dye t-shirts, and leggings in SS18 — a lot more to come in 2019.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’ve visited LA multiple times & I plan to move there in the future. Love the weather, work atmosphere, and the local attractions. The traffic is horrendous though.
