Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Douglas and Brittney LaBella.
Can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.
What do you get when you combine a nurturing mother of four who is a passion-filled believer of all things natural and loves investigating new ideas? You get Aloe & Bloom. Founded by mother and daughter duo, Diana Douglas and Brittney Douglas, Aloe & Bloom is a unique Natural & Organic Skincare line, that focuses on igniting inner and outer beauty, naturally.
Based in California, mother and Co-creator, Diana, offers a wealth of industry experience as a Licensed Cosmetologist. Daughter, Brittney, is a Licensed Esthetician. When Brittney was a little girl, she always wanted to try out beauty products with her mom and has always loved everything about skin care since the day she could get her tiny hands on it. There is no wonder that she became a certified skin therapist who has spent several years in spa settings helping people to achieve optimal health and beauty. She now focuses on helping hundreds of women make healthier skin choices at Aloe & Bloom.
Aloe & Bloom was created out of a need to help others make healthier choices with their skincare. Diana began making Organic cold processed soap for her family because most things on the market were chemically driven. Through her work as a Cosmetologist, she encountered many people with skin conditions who were being prescribed synthetic and harmful medications. It was then that she realized just how important it was to empower people by creating an organic product to provide people with healthier options that work. As Brittney grew up around the beauty industry, she developed a passion for skincare just like her mom and decided to get her license as an esthetician. Before too long, the steadfast go-getters had created their own green beauty skincare line – Aloe & Bloom.
With a passion for Organic Skincare, Diana and Brittney have formulated what they believe to be the most beneficial and cutting-edge skincare products on the market. Today, their mission is to help women achieve beautiful skin, using Organic products, at any age.
The vibrant team feels blessed to be able to work together, sharing their skills, experience, and passion with other women around the globe, daily. When they are not helping people to look beautiful naturally, they are probably spending quality time with their family. They both love staying active and healthy, not only on the outside but on the inside, nurturing themselves through nutritious food, regular exercise and plenty of Californian sun.
Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way? Any advice for other women, particularly young women who are just starting their journey?
Struggles? Yes, we have had a few along the way, what new business doesn’t? We had an issue with trademarking our business and ended up having to completely rebrand. Although it was an expensive hiccup, in the end, we felt like it happened for a reason and we truly love the new name of our brand. We created Aloe & Bloom with a lot of knowledge in formulating but struggled quite a bit with the business side. Whether it was marketing, meeting deadlines, or taking chances on new opportunities, every day we learn something new. Taking yourself outside of your comfort zone can be scary but so exciting at the same time! When you’re so passionate about something, you find a way to make it happen. Our advice to other women wanting to start a business is to keep your chin up, don’t pull your hair out, work hard and NEVER GIVE UP. Your struggles will turn into your dreams!
We’d love to learn more about your work. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a brand, organization or service provider? What sets you apart from others?
Aloe & Bloom specializes in plant-based Natural and Organic Skincare. We began our journey looking for an organic chemist with an extensive holistic background. We talked with more labs and chemists than we can remember trying to find our perfect match who knew the importance of incorporating natures most potent herbs and botanicals combined with the most cutting edge ingredients in skincare today. Our mission is to create products that will deliver optimal results and make women of all ages feel beautiful in their own skin without comprising their health. We want to take people back to their roots before products contained so many toxic ingredients. Think about this… it takes a lot more time to plant, harvest and extract an ingredient versus just using a lab created ingredient. We are proud of our ingredients and unlike other brands, we know where our ingredients are sourced from. A lot of research and development goes into every single formulation that we have created to make the best quality products out there. We are not mass produced so your product will be fresh with every batch made! We believe in retaining the naturally vibrant colors to retain the highest levels of actives and antioxidants in each product and we truly believe in the healing power of nature.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
We are both licensed professionals that grew up in the beauty industry inspired by so many other women entrepreneurs it just made sense for us to create our own skincare line that we believed in. We started making organic soap just for our family quite a few years ago and when the word got out, so many other people wanted us to make it for them. We saw a ton of people with skin conditions that had tried everything from going to the doctor to prescription medications, nothing was working. Just by switching to an organic clean soap it changed the lives of so many people, that’s when we realized it was our calling to make a difference!
