Meet Trailblazer Jade Darmawangsa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Darmawangsa.

Jade, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born in Los Angeles, CA in April 18th 2001, I grew up with a family of entrepreneurs. My dad ran a software company with ten employees. In 2008, the economic crash caused my family to lose everything. We lost our friends, company, and home. Since I looked up to my father for business advice, he encouraged me to start a YouTube channel when I was nine years old. I began to play with dolls and turn them into films on YouTube. From there, the audience I grew transformed into an e-commerce business selling toy products.

Now, I started a new channel, teaching people how I grew an audience on social media. With over 200,000+ fans and followers, the personal brand journey app teaches brands how to grow on social media.

Has it been a smooth road?
Huge obstacles, the biggest one was money. I didn’t have to startup capital or trust funds to launch a million dollar company.

But unlike my competitors who feel defeated at the feeling of not having enough money, I get fired up.

Being resourceful has been the KEY to my success.

Didn’t have a nice camera? Good, I can focus on my video storytelling
Don’t have a nice office? Good, the value I give is more important.
Can’t scale and get the employees I need? Good, I can automate work with software.

My plead for any young entrepreneur is to stop being soft. I feel like we get caught up in our perfectionism, you don’t need to have the best to produce results.

We’d love to hear more about PBJ App.
Everyone wants to be their own boss, but what are the steps to make money self-employed?

Personal Brand Journey App is the education for the self-employed. We provide video lessons, classes, and tools to start a career on social media. It’s deeper than a YouTube tutorial and cheaper than an MBA.

We currently focus our time hosting events for our students in LA.
To get updated on the next event, visit Swipeupla.com.

What sets us apart from other courses is our method of teaching people. Instead of traditional classroom settings where you learn in a room, we reverse the system. Learn content online, and go to events to do your homework and network with classmates.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
A lot of people call me out for having my father as a mentor. But I believe your friends are your mentors. Instead of looking for one person for advice, your daily source of inspiration is from the people you are around.

Ask yourself, if you put all your friends and family into one room and you are the most talented person, find a new room.
