Meet electronic pop artist FLAVIA

Today we’d like to introduce you to FLAVIA.

Thanks for sharing your story with us FLAVIA. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Music has been a part of me since my inception. I have no idea at what point I fell in love with it, I just know it was always there inside me. I grew up mostly in Dublin, Ireland though I finished high school in Florence, Italy before landing in LA. I came out here to pursue music, the L.A. cliche, and I haven’t left since.

I write, produce and perform all over L.A. I have an eclectic live show with a ton of gizmos and gadgets that I trigger on stage, as well as unique visuals that excite the eye. Most recently, my music video for “I Don’t Wanna Be Here” was just featured on Billboard Pride. Check it out! 🙂

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been an incredible journey with many winding roads and potholes along the way, but I’m so proud of where I’ve gotten to and all that I’ve achieved as an independent artist. One of the greatest struggles was finding the right team of collaborators to work with.

After working with dozens of producers that didn’t understand my vision, I taught myself to produce my own music. This opened the way to some of my best work. No one was going to be able to figure out my sound for me, I had just to get lost in it. But from the biggest challenges come the greatest rewards.

Being a DIY and independent artist has been my biggest asset. Out of necessity, it’s forced me to produce my own music, create my one-woman live show, manage myself and book shows around the country, and to learn all facets of the music industry. I feel powerful and ready to take on the world.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about FLAVIA – what should we know?
It’s hard to say what I’m most proud of because you’re constantly overcoming new hurdles and evolving. But one of my most recent wins was the making of my music video for “I Don’t Wanna Be Here.”

With a small budget and a rockstar team, we made ART. It’s so inspiring when you can work with your talented and creative friends on a project. I definitely owe a lot of homie favors and home cooked dinners!

Billboard Pride premiered the video, which was a dream! You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ho15jjfid8&feature=youtu.be.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Yes! I firstly need to shout out my one-man visual team, Basil Mironer (head of Mirage studio). He is my secret weapon. He’s worked on all my music videos, directed “I Don’t Wanna Be Here,” does the visuals for my live show, and has photographed several single covers for me. He’s also easy on the eyes and my muse on occasion. 😉

I’ve worked with some amazing producers! I produced “I Don’t Wanna Be Here” with Stefan Mac, “Hateful” with Ariza, and an upcoming single “Expectations” with Marky Style. These are just a few of the incredible artists I’ve worked with.

My sister is a huge creative sounding board for me, she’s so brilliant! We are constantly thinking up what crazy, out of the box idea we can conjure next. Last but not least, my badass, powerhouse lawyer, Deprise Brazel!
