Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Goldsmith.
Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my beauty career working the Lancôme counter at Macy’s while going to cosmetology school in Michigan. I had a passion specifically for skincare, yet loved all things beauty. I also had a love for interior design and putting things together aesthetically that make people feel comfortable.
As I grew my business, I realized I was giving clients an experience, not just a service and I loved it! After starting at a spa as an esthetician and building my client base, I eventually rented my own studio. I quickly outgrew that space, and I decided to open my own Salon & Day Spa in Michigan, which I ran and eventually sold after 11 years.
Being able to include other professionals in this industry was another gratifying, empowering layer to experience. However, enjoying the warm sunshine and palm trees was a dream that I truly desired to make my every-day reality. Although terrifying, I left all that was comforting and normal to come to Los Angeles.
I wanted to absorb spa life as an employee, not as an owner. I wanted to experience new opportunities and learn from professionals in the industry. I was fortunate enough to have celebrity clients as well as influencer/bloggers, editors, producers, directors, and so many amazing and interesting people.
This leads me to a new chapter of my life that I’m very excited about, the opening of my new facial esthetics salon, Bijou Beauty.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always obstacles or struggles that affect you in ways that might surprise you. I am not afraid of change and many times realize it is simply part of growth. Knowing myself, I knew the hardest part of my most recent move would be the emotional part of leaving the comfort of family, friends, and clients. The struggle now is building another business and starting from nothing, all the more rewarding when you can watch it grow through its stages, and flourish!

Bijou Beauty is a posh and luxurious salon that specializes in personalized professional beauty services for the face that has a natural focus and look. We offer lash extensions, lash lifts, microblading, skincare, and waxing. I’ve been blessed to find such talented lash artists, microblading artists, and estheticians who are experienced and passionate about what they offer. We’re all experts in our trade, yet still, learn from each other and evolve with new techniques, technology, and trends.
Our mission at Bijou Beauty is to provide an extraordinary customer service experience, surpassing expectations and providing luxurious treatments to each and every client. All services are in private treatment rooms, with a relaxing ambiance and pampering extras. We want clients to feel like they can stay while and enjoy a latte, matcha, tea, or mineral water after their appointment.
Our botanical facials combine nature and science to bring balance, brightening, and rejuvenation to skin. We apply lash extensions using techniques that are safer for our clients with a natural approach. When it comes to volume lashes we have experienced professionals that can give you the look and fullness you love, that won’t compromise your natural lashes.
Lash Lifts and the coloring of lashes & brows are done with a keratin lift and organic pigments and henna, giving clients a safer option and longer lasting color. Our microblading artists are ready to transform clients eyebrows and help them become wake up ready. Eyebrows have the ability to drastically change your look, and our talented artists can make your dream brows a reality.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance and determination. Things don’t happen as quickly as we would like. Plans have a way of taking a different turn, and you have to adapt to change.
