Meet Fumi Ozaki of “O” de Kirei in Redondo Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fumi Ozaki.

Fumi, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
“O” de Kirei, founded in 2012, is a one-and-only personalized, private, petite Skincare and Electrolysis practice in the heart of North Redondo Beach, California.

The uniqueness of the business name, part of it comes from my last initial “O” but also means “water” (Eau) in French. Kirei means “beauty” or “beautiful” in Japanese. My ultimate goal at my practice is to beautifully inspire the pure blessings of water to all my clients with a positive spirit, optimal health, and radiant skin wellness.

Prior to opening my business, I worked full time as a Skincare Educator/Trainer/Marketing/PR Coordinator for a well-known direct selling cosmetic company for eight years. While working full time, I took evening and Saturday classes to earn my Esthetician and Electrology licenses, in hopes to add a plus on my resume.

I love to educate my clients about proper skincare awareness, so I decided to pursue an additional 600 hours to be certified as an Esthetician Instructor to fully enhance my career and to position myself to be at the forefront of this ever-changing beauty industry.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As there are so many choices in picking their best-fit in Skincare and Electrolysis specialist, it’s been a true blessing to all my clients for trusting my expertise. My clients come from all walks of life, and as we build a special bond, they come to my practice for a reason, as we work together to removing unwanted hairs permanently or to help optimize their skin condition.

Some of the obstacles or challenges I have on a daily basis is realizing that there is no “absolute guarantee” with any salon/spa business. Accidents can happen in life; client schedules do change, family emergencies will arise. I have to be humble and let things flow with situations that are beyond my control while focusing on my business to maintain current clientele and making new ones.

Despite such obstacles, I try to focus on the most important aspect of sustaining this business, that is keeping myself positive and continue looking for new opportunities to market my practice.

“O” de Kirei – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
“O” de Kirei is a one-woman spa specializing in results-oriented, personalized, hands-on lymphatic facials and Electrolysis (permanent hair removal) for both men and women of all generations. What sets me apart from others is the customized, personable approach in working with every client.

I try to maintain professionalism at all times in a one-on-one, clean, safe and relaxing ambiance. As a professional, it is very important that I respect my client’s personal and mental space throughout the treatment. I kindly speak to my clients by looking at their eyes as a normal part of communication and answer any questions or concerns they may have.

As a beauty educator, I do my very best to gain trust and relieve any anxiety about the service(s) by conducting a detailed consultation. Clients come to “O” de Kirei to enjoy their “me” time, and it is my job to make their moment to sparkle. Being a good listener, in the long run, will make clients happy, and will have a better understanding of what to expect at my practice.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is receiving trust and respect from clients coming to receive a high-quality service(s) at “O” de Kirei. When client’s leave my practice with a tiny compliment and a smile, this assures me that I have met their expectations and that they are satisfied to continue with their session.

Being in a customer-oriented business, client’s emotions, their kind statements, or even a small joke can greatly influence my work throughout the day (or week) and makes me remember on why I originally got into this field. Such a reward is truly appreciated you cannot imagine while being humble as a one-woman spa.
