Meet Ashley McDonal of Ashley Nichole in The Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley McDonal.

Ashley, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About five years ago, I started helping my sister with her YouTube channel. For a couple of years, I just helped with filming and assisting her with her videos. Eventually, I decided to start my own channel! I fell in love with the platform, especially how it was a creative outlet, and it forced me to try new things each week. I feel like I have come a long way since I first started posting content. When I first started my channel, I was definitely just posting what others were posting, but now I feel like I have found my niche and am more intentional and creative with the content that I post. I have been able to connect with my viewers lately more than I have in the past, which has been so exciting. I definitely am happy with where I am at, but also excited to branch out and try new things.

Has it been a smooth road?
This YouTube journey has definitely not been a smooth road. It’s easy to talk about being original, but actually executing this goal is a hard task at times. Working from home is a constant balancing act as well. While becoming your own business sounds like such a fun thing, it’s actually a lot of hard work. All this to say… I clearly love what I do because there is much more to come!

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am most commonly known as an influencer, but I would like to think that I create original online content that is inspiring to viewers. I guess I would say that I specialize in creating YouTube videos, but since I have started, Social Media has become its own beast encompassing Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat…you know, those things we absent mind-idly scroll through every day. I’m most known for aesthetically pleasing fashion and travel content. Those two categories are near and dear to my heart and have become the center of what I do. Up until this year, I have done everything on my own. I am just now starting to work with editors which have been a game changer and something that I highly recommend to keep your sanity.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely!! One of my favorite things about this city is that it has a contagious buzz about it. Everyone here is trying to do something or be someone and chase their dreams every single day. You can feel it in the air every morning, and it’s extremely contagious and encouraging especially when you have dreams of your own. LA is full of start-ups and small businesses, which is a scary thing to do, so it’s comforting to know that you’re not alone.
