Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Cain.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Robert. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started as a visual artist when I was quite young which developed into a passion for still photography from there, it was inevitable that I would continue my journey in the cinematic arts. I worked my way up from P/A (production assistance) to Director of photography and then Director. I broke out on in the mid 90’s and have been working to provide excellent service to my clients and to constantly improve my craft.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges for those who are in the creative field is trying to balance the creative vision with the business aspect which is very different skills. Running an independent production company has required me to learn how to manage all aspects of the business and whether the lean times. There have been times I was convinced that I would have to go get a “real” job.
Please tell us about HDCinemaPro/RCain Productions.
HDCinemaPro is a boutique production company that provides services for small to medium film, commercial and television projects, including music videos, documentaries, branding and BTS (behind the scenes). We are known as the go-to company for documentary interviews and behind the scenes filming. We have had the pleasure to work with a diverse clientele on great projects such as Gaming BTS on Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, DJ Hero, WoW and on commercials for Toyota, Proctor & Gamble and Epson including winning the Elevate Film Festival, sweeping all categories in the commercial competition. We have made a name for ourselves in the spiritual community and Robert has been the lead director at Agape International Spiritual Center for more than a decade and worked with many non-profits and NGOs. One thing that I’m most proud of is the opportunity to cover major world events and work with world leaders at the 2002 World Summit held in Johannesburg, S. Africa such as Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell, and Jane Goodall.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I would listen to my Dad tell me stories and jokes for hours, some of them hilarious, some not so much and that’s where I developed my love of storytelling.
