Meet Alexandra Benaim of More Rockin in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Benaim.

Alexandra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
What made me really fall in love and want to get started was the quality of the fabric. The delicate feel of the material inspired a sense of magic in me. In addition to the fact that the materials derived from a place of familial ancestry for me were also key in making me want to move forward with creating a collection. I felt it my duty to promote and familiarize people with the versatility and practicality of this material because of the greater sense of purpose it gave me. It was about loving and honoring where I came from.

In this, being inclusive was also important, both in who we were creating for and how we offered our clothing. We wanted to remain unisex and to create a sense of elegance in our collections that allowed for wear to all kinds of gatherings. The mission of our collections was to inspire people to expand creatively in how they incorporate our clothing in their day today.

The elegant, funky styles that make up More Rockin is the essence of who we are. There is a sense of openness and comfort we want to communicate in the wearer’s experience. It is just about being free in the way you move and in the way you go about your day. You can remain YOU, regardless of it all, which is what this journey continuously has taught me, an aspect of this process I am most aware and grateful to share.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It most definitely has not been. You are in a risky business and you are an entrepreneur. You are facing insecurities, the stress is very real. You have a take a leap of faith and listen to yourself, to your gut, to your intuition.
There is the pressure in not wanting to fail yourself.

Staying authentic to myself and to my product/service has been an ongoing part of my journey, teaching me to be more fearless and to dream bigger for the vision that I am creating for this brand, with the grace of course.

Please tell us about More Rockin.
We are More Rockin, a unisex boho fashion line. We are known for how our fabric feels and falls on the wearer.

I am most proud that I can cater to a variety of people, the yoga community being one of them.

Yoga has been a part of me for the last seven years. To be able to serve and to cater to my yogic family that has

given so much to me definitely feels full circle.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Dancing to Moroccan music with my mom firstly!!!

Secondly would have to be eating the Moroccan cuisine my mom makes. It has literally been my favorite experience since as long as I can remember.
