Meet Tyrone Murphy of Cambric and Calico Clothing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrone Murphy.

Tyrone, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Grew up and witness the birth of the era called hip hop… Very influential in my thought process when I paint the perfect picture… From “Wavy’s Bayou” by artist Chuckwavy playing in my headphones; to watching Dj Kalito mix and master music… It’s always been a staple in my life and how I take on designing my clothing… Every piece is themed and has its own story… From The Black Collection to HKFD Volume One… The Colored Archer Edition by Cambric and Calico Clothing is one of my favorites though… It’s dedicated to my Great, Great Uncle Isaac B. Murphy…. The first Black Man to win the Kentucky Derby and still to this day The most winningest Jockey In Thoroughbred Racing History… You decide tho; which one you like… @www.cambricandcalico.com

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any business… It boils down to capital… (Money) dollar, dollar dollar, dollar bill y’all… Couldn’t resist it… See Hip Hop Tourettes… All joking aside… I’ve been blessed… I understand that it’s a marathon… So I’ve just been progressing and doing what I love to do… Living my Life…

Please tell us about Cambric and Calico Clothing.
I’m the owner of the company… We design “Ready to Wear” clothing… Only 200 pieces are made of each design; thus making it an exclusive garment… Our wholesale price points for limited clothing sets us apart…

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Breakdancing, Skating, BMX Bike Riding, Bass Fishing, Gaming, Kite Fights…. I could go on forever…
