Today we’d like to introduce you to Corie Clark.
Corie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
For years, I had felt a longing for more. To be living a more fulfilling life but just wasn’t sure what that meant or looked like. In 2014, I knew something needed to change but our lives were so chaotic that I didn’t know where to start. So, I decided we needed to simplify our lives and create margin for a purpose.
After giving our lives an overhaul, I wrote my first book, The Simplicity Project. I did this as a way to share the process we went through and help others who were feeling the overwhelm of chaos as well. As people were reading the book, the began asking me to create a planner that implemented what I taught.
Since I had just published a book, something I thought I’d never do, I was feeling pretty confident and like there was nothing I couldn’t do. In November of 2014, the Purposeful Planner was born and we sold out of our first order in less than a month!
To this day, my passion is to help people find their purpose in both life and business and to equip them to live it out. I have since launched courses and a membership site as a way to help people truly live the life they were created to live.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth. The life of an entrepreneur has it’s ups and downs and zigs and zags but what I’ve learned is that it’s all about perception. If my perception and beliefs stay positive, even the lowest lows won’t take me out. Every win and every failure has taught me something and I use those lessons to move forward with new dreams and goals every day.
My advice to any woman, young or old, is to just start. Don’t wait for your dream or your blog or your book or your product to be perfect. Action brings clarity and if you take that first step no matter how messy it is, it will show you what your next step should be. And let go of others thoughts and opinions. They don’t matter at all but have the potential to keep you from your destiny if you let them.
What should we know about your business? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I teach people to live and operate their businesses more purposefully through my book, website, social media, online courses, and VIP Member’s lounge.
The Purposeful Planner and Business Planner are sold in my online shop along with a few other organizational tools.
I’m most proud of the changes I’ve seen in people’s lives. The emails I get from a customer telling me she can finally get out of bed in the morning because she’s found her purpose and clarity to move forward. Or from the mom who felt like she was drowning in the endless to-dos but has found peace and margin in her schedule and her home. And from the entrepreneur who has found clarity and breakthrough in her business from the VIP lounge.
It truly is those little glimpses of others finding a purpose that fuels me.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I’m so thankful to all of the women who have gone before me. Breaking down walls and barriers that may have once kept me from becoming the business owner I am today. I know there are still barriers but I truly believe they are ours for the taking. Maybe, it’s how I was raised or maybe it’s because I believe I can do anything, but I see barriers as a battle to be won and not something to hold me back.
