Meet Imen Shan of Tea Habitat in Alhambra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Imen Shan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Imen. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Tea Habitat was found in 2007 in Palos Verdes with a simple obsession with tea, later moved to Alhambra in 2015.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest obstacle is the lack of general knowledge of tea, particularly specialty teas in the western world. The vast amount of information about tea can be extremely overwhelming and confusing, on top of the list of difficulty is the foreign terms, lack of translation, misinterpretations, lost in translation etc. It’s a slow and painful process to educate the general public about drinking tea without a teabag.

Tea Habitat – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Tea Habitat was found in 2007, specializing in specialty teas from China, the rarest, most unique and best quality teas in small quantity, often harvested and processed only one tree at a time. Throughout the years, we roaming the tea mountains along the east coast of China, across the continent to the jungles of southwestern provinces, crossing the border into South East Asia. We built close relationships with farmers and producers to source the best of what they produce. Learned how to identify great teas from good teas, learned what made them better than the rest by looks, tastes and health benefits. We learn from the best tea masters from China on how tea is made to maximize its potential, tea wares to enhance the flavor, also to enhance the tea making drinking experience aesthetically, spiritually. Based on what we learn, we are able to share the knowledge with our customers, providing the best tea experience we can offer to those who are also passionate about tea. Tea can be simple, tea can be philosophical, and tea can be spiritual. Tea can be a soothing balm, tea can promote profound deep thoughts. The knowledge of tea can be ocean deep, but one can enjoy a cup of tea regardless.

We are proud to be the best source of wild grown jungle forest teas, single old tree teas outside of China. We select teas harvested from high altitude wild forest that are pristine, uncontaminated by civil pollution, as organic as it can be.

We offer tea tastings daily by appointments only. The best way to try many teas from different regions, types, ages, and quality, experience the traditional Chinese way of tea making, pick Imen’s brain on how tea energy affects your body, and get tea drunk.

We offer wholesale/consulting service to hotel, restaurants, coffee/tea houses, specialty/kitchen stores etc. Our products are available on our website, and Amazon.
