Art & Life with Enrique Manzano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Enrique Manzano.

Enrique, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My journey in photography started as a hobby. I’ve always been fascinated with cameras and preserving moments. Not just unique moments but everyday moments, candid and unrehearsed.

I feel that capturing a moment in a photograph is like holding onto that place and time forever; in a world where time knows no rest, I think that photography is as close as I can get to hold onto that moment. Although I frequently shoot digital, I still enjoy shooting film. Film can be unforgiving and challenging which is why I enjoy using it. I always enjoy a creative challenge and learning new tricks.

My ultimate goal in photography is capturing other’s special moments. I’m currently working on building my portfolio with wedding and lifestyle photography. I hope to soon start a small business where I can capture special moments of families and individuals.

Photography started as a hobby and turned into a passion that I enjoy and wish to share with others.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My photography is a window to the world through my eyes at that moment in time.

Portraits are my way of capturing human emotion and individuality. With weddings, I enjoy capturing special moments just as they were and preserve them forever. With street photography, I enjoy the raw energy and randomness. I cannot pick one over the other. They all give me their own unique inspiration.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think that the biggest challenge facing artists today is finding a way to stand out. In a digital world where phone cameras can capture great images automatically and effortlessly, as an artist I have to find ways and work extra hard to stand out.
