Meet Sandra Zebi of Zebi Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Zebi.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sandra Zebi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design and also studied Architecture and Classic Sculpture. I lived in London for two years and traveled around Europe, Asia, and Australia before coming to Los Angeles in 1986. I was very intrigued and inspired by the cultural diversity that the city had to offer, and decided to permanently reside here. I began a career as a ceramist and started using the name Zebi Designs, which is now my company of 27 years.

Since then I have branched out and now work with various media including acrylic paintings, digital art, and mixed media. I consider my art to have a unique style with simple, yet distinct and vibrant colors. My work is made up of cheerful and graceful images used to convey positive messages while representing my Brazilian culture. I am a strong believer in “less is more” and continually expresses that in my art.

Has it been a smooth road?
Like most creative people, my artistic path had quite a few challenges. It took a few years to find a balance between creating art based on the expression of my imagination, that would also appeal to and be enjoyed by the public. As many artists, I found myself working various odd jobs in order to support my artistic career. It is a long journey to find your artistic niche where you can establish yourself, and this is something I continue exploring every day.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Zebi Designs – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I began my business on my own and began working solely with ceramics at the beginning, which became my main media and specialty. Soon after, I branched out and explored other materials. In addition to functional ceramics, I have always strived to create public art such as murals and sculptures. I take pride in knowing that my work is appreciated by a wide variety of people in the community and abroad. I truly care about maintaining long-lasting relationships with my customers and collectors. I believe my unique style sets me apart from others, as many people can easily identify my artwork.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
My favorite aspect of Los Angeles is the mix of different cultures. I love to see people from different backgrounds coming together in one melting pot. LA is a city where everything happens, and it is inspiring to know that there are endless opportunities around the corner. Since I am also from a big city, I identify with the quick pace of LA, and there is always great weather and sunshine.

What I like the least is the amount of people who walk or bike around the city. Although it has been drastically changing in the past years, I would like to see a city where people drive less, and are more active and interact more with one another.
